If I do a few stretches I can do it easily which is unusual for a man my age in shape or not.

@pitstop That would likely help. I had trouble for a while when I was younger. Then I got a job picking vegetables for a local farmer. By the time the summer was over and the cucumbers were done for the season, I could put my palms flat on the ground without bending my knees.

so i'm not alone. i never could reach it, even in a sitting position, since childhood even if i was quite thin.

The firsy few days i had trouble but since then i have been doing it easily because nothing comes quick and i feel like my feet are on air when i am running so its a win win either way hope that helps

I can, flexibility is very important and I encourage you to stretch every day! You can include it in your morning and evening routine, you'll soon see improvements!
