I am sorry now that I didn't take this eclipse more seriously

The next one is not supposed to be for another 20 years or something, although I doubt it, I could even be dead then. I went to the convenience store where they were selling eclipse glasses..they had several dozen of them, but of course now they are all sold out!! I checked a couple of other places..but no dice. I could have gone up to PA where there is totalility, but didn't want to spend the money. However, I could easily have gotten the glasses and gone to the overlooks west of here to have a better view. sigh..now, I am just waiting until it is past here, before I go out.

In 20 years I will be in my early 70s! I did the same as you But I didn't look for glasses. I didn't want to pay the money for them. I can see out the doorway of my bedroom into the dining room and the room is practically totally dark. Not long ago it was bright and sunny. I read online that animals know what to do during these events if they have their regular routine and my cat, who was on his dining room windowsill bed suddenly jumped as it started to turn dark. our routine didn't vary (he jumped hard as the noise startled me) and now he is on his blanket under my desk, (he has several places to sleep around the house)

It looks here now like it is going to rain. It was a bright sunny day before. I predict in about a half hour the sun will be out again.

@LovesEverybody No, it isn't in that area of the country. That is true about the 2 liters. It usually goes flat on me too.

@snowy22315 I watch grocery hauls on YouTube and Food Lion has some great products and prices Besides the 2-liter going flat on me, I really don't have room to store a bottle once I open it

@snowy22315 That's ok, are these glasses protecting 100% though? Sounds better thay you didn't see it and protected your eyes..

I intend to have a discussion about the next eclipse with you here in 20 years . I didn't even look for glasses since it would only be partial here anyway . . . I just did the old fashion thing and used a colander on the porch .

I never heard of using a colander. Did it work? Wouldn't be hysterical if we were both on mylot in 20 years? I will probably have to be looking at everything in a giant font..macro print or something..

@snowy22315 It's pretty much the same as the shoebox with a hole trick . . . but with a colander you don't have to do anything - and you see many eclipses . Oh yah - the text would have to be gigantic for me too .

You can go out. You just can't look directly at the sun.

I am aware. I just don't want to until it is over. I might be tempted to look up.

@snowy22315 Maybe you have seen a lot of them so that is why you did not take this one seriously.

It was not seen in India. But I got to see those spectacular images that my friends and family shared from the US. I am sorry that you had to miss it. Wish you could get the eclipse glasses. 20 years is a way too long wait

Hopefully there will be another eclipse sooner than that. As long as it's in Europe, I might be willing to travel next time. I really want to see the thing now!

It was only a partial one here. I was out mowing when it occurred. It was cloudy. When I noticed it was whiteish haze I stopped and looked up and could see it thanks to the cloud. It was about the same as the one about 4-5 years ago that we had.

I watched the coverage on the Weather Channel. I got to see it several times as they followed the path of totality from Texas to the northeast.

Lucky you. Here in the UK, it was only a very partial eclipse, but because we have cloud cover, there is nothing to be seen. Last one I saw was in 1999, and that was quite impressive. I don’t think I’ll be here in 20 years, if that’s the next occurrence.

We are near the height of it now, and it is just hazy..doesn't look much different than any other partly cloudy day. Just to be safe though I am not going to go out until it is over.

You should plan a trip to Europe for 2026. The best places to see the Eclipse will be Portugal and North of Spain, the date August 12, 2026.

@snowy22315 Right now there is this serious volcano eruption in Iceland, beautiful to see but dangerous. This is a photo our newspaper published this morning, northern lights and the volcano erupting in Iceland.

The solar eclipse was a fun sight to see. We had a nice view of it for a while until it started to get cloudy later on. This one was unique in that the eclipse lasted such a long time. I was lucky to find a pair of those glasses. That was my first viewing of one and probably my last total eclipse of the sun.
