I'm still learning my way around. Trying to be a good contributing member. Can someone tell me how long you wait before choosing a best response? I try to give a positive rating to every response I feel the person was trying to help in anyway. And every topic I find interesting. How does the positive rating help the other members? How do you choose your best response and positive ratings? Happy Holidays to all

You don't have to wait. You can give many + out to your one post. I do it all the time. It helps put their posts up higher than the other ones, so more responses, more points. You choose the best response by how you personally want too. Was it answered right, did you like it, and so forth. It's up to you. Give a - if the response was one word, or not related. Give a ! if it is copied or not even revelent to what you asked. If you have more questions, email me or put it out on MyLot. If you liked my help, I would like a + next to my response. Oh, you can give them to the people that post too. Have fun and good luck dear.

Hmmmm??? So why is it that people TELL others to put a "A+" next to their response?? They dont "ASK" politely.. they "DEMAND" it.. I think its quite rude to be honest. Id rather give a A+ to a genuine response rather than give it to some Rude Random!

I don't know why they ask for an A+. And it is rude to demand it. Thank you for giving me the +. I am going to give you one for your response. Bless you. If you have anymore questions, email me anytime, or post.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I haven't been waiting on giving the positive response ratings. Was just trying to learn how useful they are. Haven't given best response yet. Think I read where someone said wait a few days to give more people a chance to response before choosing a best response. Margieanneart I believe all of yours have got positive responses from me. I like your answers and topics. You both got a positive from me on this one. Happy Holidays

I really don't have a lot to add.... I like rating all those who respond to my discussions. I do not give negative responses but I do not rate any response with just one or two words nor do I rate any response that has nothing to do with the discussion. I use the ! when I see that someone has pasted a previous posting or are pushing their site or spamming. When responding to someone else's discussion I try to read as many responses as needed before I enter my response. As I read I also rate each response and as well as the comments of the poster. I do not rate a posters comment if it is the same for all of the responses....only when the poster actually makes some comment, however trivial, do I give a rating. A Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I only give it a couple of days. If there are a good amount to choose from before 2 days, I will select the best from them. The good thing about getting many responses from a discussion is that there is likely to be a response you can deem "best" from amongst them. I do give positive ratings if the response is relative to the discussion. If the response is irrelevant or only answered with a word or two, they are given a negative response. It is clear that those responses are done solely to gain earnings and not to contribute to the Mylot community.

i dont take under consideration time but content of response. u should just read and check if that response satisfy u or not. if not then just wait for other responses. but i have read somewhere here that there is a limit of time chosing best response, or maybe i just undderstood wrong. anyway i have gave 2 best responses so far it isnt much but i just feel that way. check my discussions maybe ur response will be the best.

Thank you for response. Maybe someone else knows if theres a time limit on giving best response. How does best response benefit the member it was given to? Happy Holidays

I'm still fairly new myself but I think when it comes to a best reponse you should wait a few days or more, as discussions come and go so quickly that often it may take a little while before some see it and get the chance to respond. As for the positive, I believe that a good rating helps toward that persons earnings. When it comes to choosing a best response well that's all personal preference, and sometimes it can be hard, but pick based on your criteria: did the reponse cover the topic of the discussion, did it answer any questions you may have etc. Good luck and have fun here

It is not necessary to wait, as you will get reponses for months. You can give many + out, not just one. So no need to wait. Welcome to mylot, hope you have fun.

True I guess I just figure that by waiting a few days before giving a best response hopefully gives you more to choose from :-) the ratings I can do on an ongoing basis.

I usually give it at least 2-3 days or just watch how many responses come in and then assign a best response. Assigning best response and rating the responses you get will help your overall earnings I think, and even if it didn't I think it's a good thing to do.... and I have to admit that I get a big kick out of being selected as best response!!

I actually asked this a few days ago and seems that there is no rule of thumb. It seems some don't even bother which is a shame.

I usually give a positive rating after around five reponses. I choose my best responses based on the content.

I dont usually take the best response on mine discussions because the most replies on her are very bad and with few words so i dont like any, have a nice day on mylot and happy earnings also.

yeah true! even i have started just a few days back and still learning through. i give the + or - immediately, as soon as i have read through the message. if i like it, a plus. if i dont like it, or if i think somebody answered just to make money and was not genuinely interested, a minus. and if i am not sure, i dont mark anything. i didnt know what to do with the ! till i read some of the responses to this post. thanks for the nice post - helpful to beginners!
