Hi.I have a doubt? Do rabbits drink water? Iam asking so this because, previously I had some rabbits and one night we kept a cup of water before them and the next morning I found them dead. some said that rabbits lick their front feet if they feel thurst and they dont drink water.

that is just ridiculous. how could their front feet help them if they're thirsty? of course rabbits drink water like every other animal.

All living things need water. Yes, they will drink water. Not sure if they'll drink it out of a cup, suppose they could, but I think a water bottle is usually best for them. That's what mine prefers anyway.

the bottle is just better because they can't hop in it and spill it. plus they don't get their fat dewlaps all wet when they drink lol

Rabbits do drink water. You shouldn't give it to them in a cup because there is a chance that they might drown (even though they don't in rivers in the wild). Rabbits drink water out of the same type of bottle that a hampster or other small pets do.

You'd have to use a pretty large cup for them to drown in it. My 10 year old rabbit used to be very bratty, and he could rip apart a water bottle in no time. He could also shatter any small ceramic dish. So after awhile, he ended up with the large dishes his past owner gave me. The ceramic was about 1/2 inch thick, the bowl diameter is probably 8 inches or so. It holds probably 64 ounces of water. Definitely enough to drown in. Maybe if you put a small rabbit in a tiny cage with that dish they'd drown, otherwise, likely not. He now has a more shallow dish because he's getting arthritis and I don't want him stretching over the dish. Plus, he's mellowed out so he isn't breaking things anymore and being the brat he used to be sometimes.

Yes rabbits drink water. Most people recommend having a water bottle for them instead of a water bowl (in my experience). I think it helps to keep the water cleaner for them.

Rabbits aren't as messy with their water as guinea pigs. So actually a bowl can stay rather clean as well. I just use bowls because it's easier for them (plus every time I try a bottle with a rabbit, they break it).

Every living thing needs water. There may have been something wrong with the water you gave them. Rabbit's aren't very hardy creatures and they get sick very easily. If you ever decide to get another rabbit I would suggest bottled water and then you'll know for sure that what you are giving them is good water.

Unless you have tap water that humans can't drink, bottled water isn't really necessary. If you have hard water deposits, a water filter is a nice idea to prevent things like bladder stones. More likely, rabbits die of something related to the environment (heat stroke) or improper diet and digestive problems.

we used to raise rabbits for meat. they had metal bins for pellets and bowls for water, so that all the babies could get a drink if they wanted it too. :)

Yes rabbits drink water! I have two rabbits and they have a water bottle and some times i have to refill it twice a day. They say if they dont have water it could kill them. My rabbits are big and healthy so i must be doing something right.

Our rabbit drinks plenty of water. She drinks some from a bowl that we leave in the corner, and some from a hanging bottle on the side of her cage. She can be there for about 5 minutes non-stop sometimes! Nick

How long was it b4 you gave them the water? Normally rabbits won't die from water cause they need it to stay alive like all other creatures do. If they haven't had water in a few days and then you give them a bowl of water, they could have drowned trying to drink it so fast cause they were very thirsty. I remember my 2 rabbits that I kept outside year round would literally stick their whole nose in the water bowl to drink in the winter when I gave them fresh water cause it would freeze on them faster than they could drink it even thou I knocked the ice out and gave them fresh water several times a day.

Hm, I've had rabbits for some years and they didn't get sick or anything from water. That's their normal drink I think, normally they really shouldn't die of water, you should check your water or your rabbits cause I don't think it's normal.
