I know i wouldn't. Why should i join the army dont tell me about serving my country, dont tell me that, God made you to live and serve him not to serve the land or the country, or better yet he said thou shalt not kill am i suppose to make an exception to that commandment and say that is ok as long as you kill for you country, thats just not right for me that is. Would you join? Why would you join the army?

It sounds like you're letting your religious beliefs get in the way of your decision in joining the military. IF so, that's perfectly fine. It's your belief system. However, people out there don't see it as killing other people. They see it as a career. My fiancee has been in the Navy for 6 years and works on the flight decks. It all depends on what branch of the military you choose.

There was a chance I would have to go to war or kill someone when I joined. That is not something that you usually focus on. Most people do not join wanting to go out & kill anyone.

I'm Portuguese and i'm about to join the army. If everything go right i will join "Comandos" in Jully. "Comandos" is like American Seals . Why I will join, mostly because is a family tradition my father was on a special force and I want to try it to. there are other reasons, like money and do something with my live. The studies are not going like i wanted so it will be a stop of at least 2 years to think what I really want to do with my life

One of the reasons my son joined the Army was a sence of tradition. My father, a brother, 3 uncles and 2 cousins all were in the military. I wish you the best of luck for going into the elite troops. You are a credit to your family and country. My hope for you and all soliers is that you never have to go to war. Thank You for your service and I will pray for you and all soldiers.

Hard decision. I don't like people shouting at you for just an undone shoe lace, coz i would would get angry and hit the drill instructor.. so its not good for me lol. But if my country is being under attack, then yes I would subscribe to defend my country. But not at this present state. Good day! ;)

LOL If I was there I won't hit him. But what I'm saying, is that I don't like people shouting and yelling for nothing, sometimes for some silly things.

If it's compulsary, then I would have to join the army. However if it's not compulsary, I wouldn't. I am not fond of too much exercise; and I see in the army you do lots of exercise. lol Well, if I have to join the army, then I'll just join and think of it as an activity to gain more experience. But basically, when there is a choice not to do it, I will definetely opt no to do it.

I wouldn't join the army for the same reason I wouldn't join the police force. I'm too opinionated and I don't like taking orders so I'm not the type of person they would be looking for. I think with both organisations you need to be able to suppress your own views and opinions and maybe do things you disagree with or think are wrong/unfair. I would have a real problem with that. I would however fight to defend my country if it was necessary.

I think I would join for the reasons of keeping healthy, having experience in something not many have and for all the travelling and helping others you would do if you where apart of the army.

I am glad that my son joined so that all of you could enjoy your freedoms. So you can live in the greatest country in the world. He talked to me a long time before he joined and his reasons were a sence of duty and obligation to his country, his admaration of his Grandfather who served in WWII and it would help pay for college(I ahd the money to pay for his college). After Basic Training and his Advanced Training in Communications I saw that the Army had given him increased confidance and a pride to be who he was. He told me later that he wanted to make the Army a career, knowing full well that he could end up doing a seecond tour of duty in Iraq or in another war later on in his career. I has been said that Winston Churchill once said that there are only two people who will voluntary give up their life for you. Jesus and the American GI.

I would never join the army. Not because I don't belive in serving my country, but because I believe there's a better way for me to serve my country than to fight. Well, that and the fact that the armed forces wouldn't take me anyway. Medical conditions. No one wants to deal with my heart problem. Not even the hospitals.

I have known many people who have joined the army and people who do not want to join. I do not believe in killing but I do believe in eye for an eye. This is a tough discussion and a tough decision.

Man I don't know about you but if you want to do something like that do it for you self. Just think about what you would learn, the rush and the friend ship of other soldiers. I was going to go in, but I know my reason is really stupid. The war was just getting ready to start and my mother and my wife wouldn't let me go. they said that if i went that they would kill me before i got on the bus. My dad was in dessert storm. and almost every one in my family served in the military. but now all I am a paintballer. I stay around here with the love of my family and of my wife. I'm not telling you to go. but if you deside to do because you want to. and becarefull.

I couldn't hurt another person, particularly someone who I didnt' know who probably hasn't done anything wrong. Therefore I could never join the forces.

#1 Reason I would not join the army is PAY. The pay is terrbile. And of corse the other obvious reasons, such as war, a uniform, uniformity, and orders. Also I do not believe that my abilities match being a soldier.

My husband is in the Army. He joined almost 3 years ago, for a number of reasons. 1) We needed the stability and security that the army could give us. The pay may not be a lot, but it's money every 1st and 15th that you can bank on. And while he's in the army, they are paying for him to go to college. 2) My husband came here from Cuba when he was 6. He was never full once in his life before he came here. He feels that this country, which so many people who are born here don't appreciate, has given him more of a life than he thought he could have when he was very little, and he will give back if he can. 3) We enjoy moving around a lot, and don't like being in one place too long. We're currently preparing to move to Germany, which is SO exciting, and something we couldn't do if he had gone straight into a career fixing computers. My husband has been deployed, but he has not killed anyone. But don't quote the Bible as a reason to not join the Army, it's very cowardly to hide behind God for that. Throughout the Bible, there are wars and killing supported by God. To act as though soldiers are just murderers, when they are doing what SOMEONE has to do, is doing the brave men and women who ARE soldiers a disservice. The Bible also says that all sins are the same, so if you have lied, or taken the lords name in vain, or wanted something that one of your friends had... you are going to be answering for those things right next to the soldier who killed an insurgent to save himself or his squad. Actually, you might not be, if the soldier has repented for his sins and been forgiven, but you have been blind to the fact you have sinned. Not that I'm a Bible thumper, but I do believe you shouldn't bring up the Bible as support if you haven't read it.
