Commenting on Responses to My Discussions

After a day of rest due to my recent illness, I am back and feeling much better! Thank you all for your well wishes. Today I am spending much of my time going over the responses to my discussions and leaving comments, rating and also selecting the best response. We all need to go over our discussions and read what people have left for responses. Why bother posting a discussion if you do not intend to go back and see what people have left for a response. Those that do not should be considered as means for dismissal from MyLot. I appreciate all of the responses that I receive to my discussions. Thank you. Huggers to all.

I'm glad that you're feeling better! I didn't realize that you were ill, but it must have been bad to keep you away from the computer!! You're so right about responding to the discussions. If the person initiating the thread does not respond, then it's more of a one-sided opinion board, not a true discussion forum. It helps to keep things going. You start a lot of discussions, so you must spend a lot of time reading and commmenting! Keep up the good work, and again I'm glad you're feeling better!

Thanks Laurie. I do try to keep up with all of the discussions that I have started. I am finding that even with the older discussions, you can regenerate interest by going in and commenting on a response.

Try Airborne products. They were created by a teacher who kept getting colds due to exposure from her students. It works for me. My mother takes it too.

Glad you are feeling better. I had a treatment today adn i am pretty weak tonight. I slept most of the day. I agree that one should read the comments. I do that and I rate them as well. I am having some trouble choosing a best response to many of my discussions as they are all wonderful. Glad to see back.

The most difficult task I have is to choose best response. I ponder over a few and narrow it down.

Congratulations on your new job! I have been considering taking 2 part-time positions. This would give me the income I need, although it may not have the benefits. I will also go back to the discussions I have responded to and give another response to regenerate the discussion. Good luck to you.... Send me an message on MyLot when you post again! Huggers to you.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well but glad that you are on the mend (bean soup is very nourishing!) As some people have said, it is sad that MyLot don't give an incentive to manage 'discussions' by adding comments. I believe that a discussion is much more than a question and answer session. As it stands, however, it is actually under the Don'ts in the Guidelines that one shouldn't comment on every reply! I do believe that if a person creates a good discussion which gets many valuable responses, there should be a small payment depending on how many good responses there are. I could have sworn that this used to be the case. I do go back and look at my discussions, especially my more recent ones. Sometimes somebody finds a discussion that has been idle for months and brings it back to the surface again. If it's a good answer, I will comment but, again, I wonder how many people visit their answers to see whether there is a comment.

Hi there welcome back!! I know that you are happy now that you already back here in Mylot. Yes it's true that everybody who responded on a discussion deserve to be answered back by the one who post the discussion. I use to do that also and want to be polite to those who responded to me.

Its often quite a task to get round all the discussions isnt it, I try to keep up with reponses and ratings for posts, but I must confess I have a huge backlog of best answers to choose. I find them the ardest as its impossible to tell when a discussion has fully run its course

I am glad you are feeling better. That stomach bug can be terrible ordeal. I hope I do not get it this year. And yes, I do go back and read things that were posted to my discussions. I try to check them at least a few times a day. I just don't always make a comment.

I did not know that you were under the weather and I am hoping that you are feeling better now. I know that when I am not on my computer I am really sick so I am sorry for you. You have a wonderful point here about people starting a discussion and never returning to it. They should put some kind of rule like this in the guidelines. It may cut down on the ones that just abuse the system in this way. Good to see you back.

So glad you are better. I do tend to like your discussions and repsonses. Glad to hear that you do rate and respond. I love responses more than rating because It gives a chance at dialogue and debate when necessary. I am raising 5 kids(well, my oldest is living at the University of Maryland, but I'm still raising him) and I do enjoy adult conversation. Thanks to you and others like you. Glad you are well.

i feel glad everytime i get responses to my own discussions so i see to it to have them rated and respond back if i had to. but i have stopped creating my own discussions since 2 weeks ago for i haven't been getting enough responses to those i made or some don't get any response at all. so i just decided to response to others' discussions and continue learning from them until i get the guts to create again my own.

Glad you are doing better. When I first started on myLot, I did not understand the importance of all of these things, and I find I still have some discussions that are unresolved. I do periodically go in and catch up a bit. I am usually intrigued by the responses to my discussions.

I always go back in and read what people leave for a discussion on my topics, as I feel this is a Great way to get to know others in here. I also find the time to respond and check out some of theirs too when I get time. Problem here lately for me, is TIME. There is never enough to do all I want to and need to do, but I do make time to respond back when I can.

Is this considered a discussion? Do we get paid for posting personal messages about ourselves. I am new here and not understanding some of the TOS. I thought I read where we are not supposed to post comments to people thanking them for commenting. These kind of posts seem kind of self serving to me. But I am new and really need to know what is accepted and what isnt? Please let me know.
