Dont want to come across as begging. Or whining. But my unemployment will be running out soon and hubby has told me i need to find a job. I dont not want to go back out into the auto business as i did it for over 18 yrs. I really just want to stay home and something from home, i have for months been looking online for something. I already am a cha cha guide, i have a online store that has not done any business. I really would like to know with all the members here what i can do to find something. Sorry if this sounds like begging or anything like that. I dont mean it to.

It doesn't sound like begging at all. It sounds as if you really want to find something. There are some real work at home opportunities out there, it's just a matter of finding them. You're no doubt going to be inundated with links to programs that will give you a little bit of cash here and there, and while they may work for some - I believe you're a lot better off setting something up for yourself than you will ever be joining program after program. I took a quick look at your store - I'm not sure how much traffic etc you get to it but there are many ways you can work on bringing more people to it - you could try using that as a basis for other sites - branch out into other things that are related. Or you could set up something totally different. I have a few websites and blogs that I've added several income streams too - and while I'm not making a fortune (yet) they are increasing. No matter what you try - make sure you research it thoroughly, if it's a program of some sort - check that it offers the support you need etc.

thanks for the suggestions. i will still continue to look and search around. i do have a few blogs out there. but it just takes so long to have them marketed and with not a lot of money it takes alot of time.

You're welcome. There's plenty of free ways you can get your blogs (or store) marketed without having to spend any money. Two really quick examples - visit some relevant forums and when you post leave a link to your site. Write an article or two with your links back to your site(s) and submit them to the free article directories - this can quickly get your pages noticed and in the search engines etc.

A couple of article sites are ezine articles and go articles, I have a whole list of them though so feel free to message me if you want any more :-) By submitting an article with your link - not only are you getting the extra traffic from those that visit your article, that link gets spidered by the search engines - also those articles will get picked up by other sites and newsletters etc - all with your links attached so the links back to your sites are spreading,.

I totally know where you're coming from! I too am on unemployement, and am desperately trying to find some reliable home business to stay at home. I was thinking of starting my business (gift baskets, maybe you've read the thread on that) but i realize i will need more money than i have available for that to happen. I've tried many businesses at home, such as SFI, Free Store Club, TMI wireless, Country Cajun, etc. but none have yet given me any money whatsoever, and it's been months! If you do come up with something, plz let me know, and i will do the same for you! Good luck to you in your search!

I have always wanted to sell some of my crafts (candles, ballet skirts, etc) at craft shows and bazaars. If you are crafty, that might be a way to make a full-time income. I have a friend who makes jewelry and sells at flea markets, bazaars and craft shows and has made as much as $3000 in a weekend. While you would have to be out of the house for the shows, you could work on building your inventory at home. Also, if you are into crafting, you could market your item(s) to locally owned businesses. One idea that I have had is to work on consignment selling my handmade hairbows. It might not bring a huge income immediately, but it will eventually start to take off. I currently sell at online auctions and mystery shop. With the auctions, my income is only limited by the time I have to list my items. In mystery shopping, I used to make enough each month to pay my rent (when I had an apartment). It took about a year to get up to that amount as you would have to start small and prove yourself, but it does eventually pay off.

You don't have to go to craft shows to sell your homemade stuff. Check out this site. http://www.etsy.com

Have you thought about doing something like some big time selling on ebay? Hit the local used stores, garage sales (obviously in season) and household sales and auctions to gather enough stuff to start putting online. I have a good friend that makes a decent amount of money doing this and can put the hours in around her kids. Also, I'll send you a personal message about what I do and how it helps me out financially. I don't post here because I don't want the company that I work for bombarded and it does take a special talent. Good luck. I hope you can find something to keep you at home.

That is not beggin at all, it is being honest. It is very hard to make a living online, but there are many ways to make extra money. Have you ever considered starting your own business not just online but outside the home? Or you could always babysit, that is at home and it keeps you at home. I want to stay home too, but there is really no way to do that. I know some chacha guides are making very good, but probably not enough to quit their job right now.

Yeah what i am making on cha cha is not enough yet, its a great extra. I would love to have my own business but trying to find money to do that is hard, i have been looking into the whole grant thing but that also takes alot of time. It just really gets frustrating sometimes.

Hmmm, maybe try doing your online store from www.ebay.com as I think it may be better business for you that way instead of a web page of your own etc. I applied for over 200 jobs before i got the one I have now. It may be hard, but you need to keep your chin up and continue to look. Is it really that important to work from home?? What about a secretarial job, or something in an office like that?

It's not begging, they call it "networking". What are you interested in doing? It would be ideal if you could do something you like. I found a website for tons of government jobs in your state. I wish you luck. www.usajobs.opm.gov

Even if you're not a mother, this is a good site to try: Clubmom.com They have a message board on there for work-at-home jobs and there's quite a few good ones. One of the ones you might want to do is the call center ones where you use your home phone and the computer to take calls for businesses. I'd try it myself but you need a quiet work area and with a crazy 18month old boy that's never going to happen around here lol. Good luck though!
