Do you remember him? My family always watched his show. It was one of the first hour long shows I remember. What are your favorite Red Skelton memories? I always remember him as a very gentle soul.

We watched him all the time too. Here's a memory, though... we were travelling and my mother suggested we meet up with a relative that I really didn't know, but as long as we were in the area.... Ok, so we did. The hotel was filled with colorful clown paintings in their gift shops, etc. and I learned that Red Skelton had a thing about clowns and he was the painter.. I really didn't care much for them at all. At breakfast at a loss as to what to say to these relatives I barely knew, I said, "oh have you seen all those clown paintings by Red Skelton? Where in the WORLD would you hang one of those!!" The reply from my relative was, "actually we met him and we have several of them hanging in our home".. ACH. So that's what I always think of when I hear Red Skelton, lol. Those where the days of good clean family entertainment though!

Oh yes I sure do remember Red Skelton if you are talking about the same one from Australia, I actually did not watch many of his shows but my parents did and one night on our television he was in a competition where he had to answer questions about a lot of different subjects he was so cleaver and won the competition, he is a very gentle soul.

I can remember The Red Skelton Show very well. I always enjoyed it immensely. My favorite character was, ans always will be, Freddy the Freeloader. Gertrude and Heathcliff will also hold a dear place in my thoughts. San Fernando Red was always worth a good laugh, also. I don't remember all the others names right now. I may have to dredge the backside of my brain to get any more. Thank you for making me exercise my gray matter, I appreciate it. An idle mind is the Devil's workshop, and his name is Alzheimer's. I'll probably never forget how he closed his show with: Good night, and may God bless.

Oh, I so much loved him when I was little. That was just about the only show my mom would let us watch and I was glued to the tube the entire time. I wish I had some of his paintings; they are worth big bucks today but just to have one would be an honor for me. I also like his ending to the shows as well, as mentioned by another mylotter - "Good nite, and may God Bless." I still makes me want to cry when I think of him saying that. I use to say it with him every time. Wish there were wonderful people around like him in this world today.

I loved Red Skeleton. I was very little and I cant recall any one thing he did, but some of the jokes and skits he did were very good. Seems like he played a clown that didnt talk. But did some funny things.

Red Skelton - Freddie the Freeloader
I remember watching the Red Skelton shows! What a happy memory you just brought around to me. His characters were down to Earth, funny and warm. He could make you laugh, cry and provoke thought with the characters and skits he performed. Clem Kadiddlehopper and Freddie the Freeloader were two of my favorite characters. It touched my heart the way he ended each of his shows by saying "Goodnight and may God Bless." I can hear the sound of his voice now.
