To all pet lovers out there.. What kind of animals do you have as pets, and why do you prefer to pet them? Are you also interested of having some exotic pets, if so, what animal would it be? What benefits do they give us, and us do give to them? Can you say that you do treat them as friends and companions, or just animals for entertainment? Please share your inputs and tips..

It's dogs all the way for me, although I don't currently have one and don't plan to get another until I'm married for awhile (and home a lot more than I am now). I love medium size dogs the most. Small dogs are usually "nippers" that tend to snap at you a lot. Large dogs are usually very slobbery... but medium dogs with short hair are usually pretty great :) Pets do make people feel better all the time, and I think it's because they need you and are always there when you need them. I always treated my dogs as friends, and gave them treats to make them happy or tried to make them feel better when they seemed depressed. I don't know how anyone could have a pet and not be buds with them :) As for exotic pets, I think iguana's are really cool. My friend was just talking about her's today and my neighbor also used to have one. I think they are neat b/c they live so long and take little care (once you get the right cage for them). I personally don't want an exotic pet though because they take a lot of learning and special products. My fiance loves cats more than dogs, but I realllllly don't want a cat so I hope he'll be ok with that in the future :) Puppies are the way to go.

I think labrador retriever's would be good, not that big and not that small for a pet dog. I do hope you and your fiancee do get along in terms of having pets, when you're already married!;)

ANother good puppy choice is any of the terrier breeds! Most are small-to-medium size and have great, gentle temperaments! SO, if you had to give in and have a cat too, then the two animals would "mix" well. Otherwise, they are great loner dogs.

I have alot of pets...lol I have Lucy my Blue and Gold Macaw, Gizmo male Chihuahu , Bella female puppy Chihuahua, Goyle and Griffin both Ferrets, Cocoa a Munchkin Cat, and Hermit Crabs. My mother has 2 birds, 3 cats inside, 7 cats outside, and a dog. We live in the same house. Lucy my bird talks and she likes attention so if you are trying to watch tv she keeps chatting. She likes to tease the dog and make him bark then tell him to "shut up" and "go lay down" She always says "hello, hi " when the phone rings, sometimes she'll yell "Matthew" or "Michelle" when it keeps ringing...lol She also likes to call me Mara instead of Mari. She can say both, she calls me mara and I say it's mari, she says "Mara Haahahaa" She can be very entertaining but also annoying when she won't stop talking.

Macaw's are really very entertaining and indeed, can sometimes be entertaining!;) But have you ever heard or known of myna birds? They also have speech pipes and are also already endangered, here in the philippines. They do talk and are very entertaining to talk at, because they always talk back to whoever they here are talking!;) Well, you really are a certified pet lover, I'm surprised that you even have hermit crabs as pets!LoL Please do take good care of them..

Quaker Parakeet - The Quaker is a small parrot, reaching 11 to 12 inches in length. As a comparison, the Quaker is a bird similar in length to a Cockatiel, but the Quaker's body is heavier and more substantial with an average weight of 90 to 120 grams.
Oh yes, I always wanted a myna bird when I was younger. There was one at a local pet shop and I thought he was the coolest bird. I find that quaker or monk parakeets have excellent voices too. I had one named didi that could out talk any other bird I ever had...lol

cruiser the pup - cruiser
I have 3 dogs jack, tammy (tammy has a pup at the moment called cruiser but he is going to a new home tomorrow:( and bundy, I love them as my own babies and they get treated just like humans, tammy is mainly the only house dog thou, but the other 2 do get to come in at times for a cuddle. My dogs are very protective of the place I live in and the people that live here. So that really good for us. Plus they make me laugh with the funny things they do I now have a cat, he is quiet funny as I think he really understand human words lol. And he has it over the dogs, they don’t muck around with him. I also have a ram, lol he a bit funny but not to safe to be around unless you can handle him because he tries to play and gets way to rough and knocks you over. I had 2 budgies but only a few days ago a snake got in the cage and killed the male. So I am giving the girl to my sister so she has some other friends and doesn’t fret as I don’t want to lose her either. I did have chooks a while ago and use to get heaps of eggs from them. Cant wait til I get some more chooks

You have a wide and some unusual pets though!;) I have a friend who has a cat that's very funny, she seems to fart and creates a very unpleasant smell!;) Yes, it farts and it farts whenever she was cuddled or handled by someone. Ain't that unusual also.. LoL P.S. I hope cruiser would be well-taken cared of!;)

I currently have one male black cat (roommate as he sees himself!). I have had cats, dogs, a raccoon and fish. Having a pet to interact with keeps me sane. I treat my pet like a companion and friend. He listens to me when I am ranting and he tries to console me when I am sad. I hope that he appreciates the moderate temperatures that I provide for him (he is an indoor cat!), the never-empty food bowl that is provided to him and of course all the attention he can stand!. For exotic animals, I have always wanted one of those small monkeys. Not a chimpanzee, but one like you see with the men with calliope machines. They can be trained to wear a hat and tip the hat to people. I was mesmerized by a monkey that was at a mall I visited when I was much younger. So I would want one of the white-faced small monkeys, sorry I don't recall the name of them!

You're cat must be your very good buddy, you seem to paper him much. Does he have any name? Well I hope you give a name that's more appropriate for his type!;) I think you're talking about a monkey that is called a "Macaque", to which I think are most found in the African Continent. They are kind of cute too!;)

I have four dogs, 3 cats, 9 goats, 12 chickens, five ducks in our farm, I visit them every day after school. If i am not around there is someone looking out ofr them. Our katiwala. Its so nice to have plenty of pets, because when your sad just by looking at them your sadness is minimize seeing them play and eat. Its fun

Snakes are considered to be as a lucky charms by chinese, and good for business enthusiasts. A dalmation is a good dog to pet at, they are playful and companion.

i have a puppy named snickers, he's a shih tzu mix, and so cute. I don't find any exotic animal interesting to have as a pet, everything else but dogs kinda freak me out, even cats!

I'm a cat person. I have two of them hee and they are my buddies. They are not kept for entertainment although they can be very entertaining. There's always been a cat or two (or three or five) in the house. Often there is a dog also but we don't currently have a dog. Maybe one will find us soon. Our pets tend to find us. We don't often go looking for them. As for the exotic pet. I always wanted a cute little koala bear. If I lived in Australia, that wouldn't be too exotic but it would certainly be unusual in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. A vicuunia (spelling?) would also be nice. Some folks around here are already keeping Llamas but I'd want a vicuunia.

It's such a great feeling on how much we treat our pets, as friends, family, companion and mostly protectors in times. I also do have pets that have special memories in my heart.

G'day. I have a dog Lucy who is 5, a kitten Banjo who is 5 months and a goat, Pickles who is 2 1/2 months. I love them dearly as my friends because they are great company and they make me laugh. I love playing with Lucy and cuddling Banjo and watching Banjo interact with Lucy and Pickles. They are all just a constant source of delight to me. They depend on me for food, love, and comfort. They don't argue although Banjo and Pickles can be very cheeky. I jus' love 'em.

I have two cats, a dog, and a rabbit. Exotic pets wise, I'd love to have a tarantula ^_^ Pets relax and make us happy..they make us laugh, some give us exciricse..all of which are a giant benefit to our health. I treat them as friends..because they are alot smarter than most people give them credit for, and they do tend to understand simple things.

A very good input!;) Sometimes animals are more easier to live with, than people who makes simple things more complicated. Pets do give us peace of mind, they are a big help to a lot of us, so we must try our best to take good care of them also!;0 I think tarantulas would be a nice exotic pet, it's up to you on how well you would handle it. As for me, luckily we don't have tarantulas here..LoL
