I love to read. I always have a book on my bedroom table. Several times when I have finished a book I really wanted the story to continue. When I have read about someone through 300 pages, and have grown to like them, it is ometimes sad that I will not be able to know what might happen to them next.

I cannot imagine not reading. I think it sound so strange when people tell me they have never read a book. I am so glad my mom started reading to me as a small child!

Yeah with most every book I read. I become so absorbed into the story and really enjoy it and then before you know it.... it's over. Sometiems I try to reread the books but since I aleady read it, it rarely holds me like the first time.

I feel the same way quite often. I start to become attached to the characters and I just feel so sad when it's over.

I've always liked very long novels. I just started my third reread of Shogun and I know that when I reach the last page I'll be sad again that the story doesn't just keep going.

i have no problem in finishing a book -- once you start one you know that eventually it's gonna end anyway. my problem is i have a hard time handling the end of a beloved series (ex. Harry Potter series), because with each title you just grow to love a series more and it's so hard to let go. somehow, you just want the stories to go on and on...

It's the other way around for me. If I get hold of a very good reading material, I try my best to be done with it as fast as possible because, I would like to review it. You know the feeling, you want to reread a book many times over just because you are enjoying its contents so much you don't want to stop reading it - least you have missed something? Then, as I am doing some rereading, I mark the areas which I enjoyed the most. I hope this is not weird.

Yes, I do. Fortunately, it is a series of books so I have another one waiting for me. I am currently involved with two series......a mystery series about Washington DC written by Margaret Truman Daniels (the late President's daughter). It is very fascinating if you have any interest in the nations's history, contemporary intrique. The other series is about Grace Chapel. Interestingly, it features the same chacters and location but is written by different authors.

This happens to me every time I read a really good book. I also usually suffer from "book hangover." That's when I can't seem to get interested in another book because the last book and its flavor won't leave my mind. Reading is wonderful!

I definitely know what you mean. If a story is so good and the characters are really compelling its normal to not want it to end. And some books have sequels or series and so you don't have to stop reading them. But some books end for a reason and if they did continue on you wouldn't like them as well as you do with a good ending.

I'm quite the opposite. If I love the book, I would read it nonstop as fast as I can to get to the end. And then afterwards, I would feel sad because it was over. More often than not, I would look up the author and see if he/she wrote any other books and then hunt those down to read too. I love rereading books and I've probably reread my favourites a least 30 times. Haha, I can't get enough of them.

This is my usual experience with all the books I read. I read and read can't put the book down have to finish it and then it is over. How sad it is when it ends.

This is nearly always the case for me with a really good book. I've been hooked on Philippa Gregory's books lately - which are historical fiction, so you know about how they're going to end - but even so, you just don't want that ending to come. Thank goodness she has several books out that I haven't read yet - I try to have the next one on hand when I finish the one I'm reading. They may not be in chronological order, but it's easy enough to immerse myself in the new one since it's the same style of writing.

That happens to me all the time. It happened to me in January, as I read a book that my sister gave me for Christmas. It was so good, and it was a true story too. If only books could go on forever. Of course if that were the case we'd have to carry tiny computers with us everywhere we go, because the darn books would be too heavy to lug. LOL

i love to read like you too. but this has never happened to me where an adventure to be over thing. well, i can tell how you feel because it is sad when you are finishing the end of a series like a series of unfortunate events, and harry potter 7. the author tempts me to read on and finish the book because he really hooks me with all the descriptive language. so i say this has half happened to me.

I totally agree with you! I've read a few really good books lately and I couldnt put them down but didnt want them to end. Some authors are so good that you feel like you're there in the book.
