Here is the thing, I don't have any dogs myself but I do love them - apart from when they try to lick my face! I get really freaked out by this, I know they have germs on their tongue and they lick their rear ends right before they lick you but this isn't the problem - I just plain hate a dog going near my face! Any of you guys out there let your dogs lick your face and not mind? Or do you stop them cos you don't like it?

My husband lets our little dog lick his tongue! He asks for kisses and sticks his tongue out, and she licks his tongue. It's so gross.

I've seen them let the dogs lick their OPEN mouth. Now, that is a bit strange. OK, more than a bit.

II'm with you. I don't like to be licked any where not on my face or my hands. It just feels creepy. And I don't want any animal near my face or licking me. Yea they lick their rear ends and each others. So they aren't licking my face.

We don't have dogs but we do have cats, and they sometimes lick us, providing they lick my hand I don't mind but I will not let them lick my face, and cats as well as dogs lick each other's behinds putting that very delicately ;0) I know it's a sign of affection just as much as bringing in their take aways (mice, voles, birds etc...) but I draw a line at having a facial by one of my cats!

its funny isn't it - hands ok, face no darn way!!!! When I see dogs or cats ( I have a cutie called tia) licking someones face I feel quite queasy! Oh I've had lots of presents too but when it comes to mice she prefers them live - so she can play with them! the worst part of having cats! xxx

Well I never had a problem with my dog licking my face, it was fine with me but he did not keep doing it he only did it when I had been out for the day and when I came back he would give me one lick on my face to welcome me home and I never had any problems with this.

No way I hate that. Our dog gives my hubby kisses on the chin not me. I don't mind them licking my hand but that's it. I don't even let the dog lick our dishes when we are done eating

I always let my dogs give me kisses if they want. I know it's gross, but they are my babies, so I don't really think of it as gross.

Having grown up with dogs my whole life I personally don't have a problem with it, except when I *know* what they've licked! I just see it as them accepting me as part of the 'group', although that is only with my own dogs. I am very wary of allowing a strange dog to put its face near mine.

Thats the thing don't they usually lick there regularly - chances are they will just have licked there if they lick you! lol

A dogs tongue strangely enough is supposed to be one of the cleanest things you could come in to contact with! Even so I really don't like it when dogs lick peoples faces and I don't allow my dog to do it.

I myself do not let my dog lick me in the face. He likes to eat tootsie rolls out in the yard if you know what I mean. (Cat poop!). So, that is a major deterrent for me, not to mention the licking of other extremities of their bodies. My dog isn't a big licker, but if he does, he likes to lick my hand or my foot. Which I find odd, but he isn't a traditional dog to begin with! I do stop him because it is icky and I don't know where his tongue has been. I don't blame you for not wanting a dog near your face. I feel the same!

YUK--- Nope I don't let my dogs lick my face- Yes they say dogs mouth are cleaner than ours-- But then again I don't go around licking my butt! I don't let my cat lick my face either- I don't let our pets lick our plates clean! They have their own food dishes- I find this just as gross as licking faces!

I love my dog and I always seem to give him little kisses on top of his head, but I don't accept kisses from him; it just grosses me out. I see his little pink tongue as a very filthy, dirty faceclothe. I wouldn't want to wipe my face nor my hands with someones dirty faceclothe that's for sure.

I like having pets as well, believe me that when i do- i do love them. But im really not that crazy over them licking my face...actually i don't like it a lot. One time my dog did this- it was a mistake that i slept on our sofa that night- when i woke up- he was all over my face-- i was shocked of course and immediately ran to the sink to wash my face, i put all the cleansers i could find and washed and rinsed it over and over again-till my face was soo dried up from washing. I dont have anything against dog licking their masters faces- im just personally not comfortable with it... have a great day mummy!

You're right, it is pretty hard to stop them, especially if they're trying to get a rabbit or something in the yard and you grab onto their collar. It really takes a lot out of you to hold them still if you try to hold both of them.
