My most favourite book was by a Dutch writer, it's called de Tuinen van Dorr. Apart from that I loved all the books by Roald Dahl, especially Matilda and the Witches.

I hated to be read to, so learned to read on my own rather early. I remember that the first book I ever read on my own was "Danny and the Dinosaur". Later, though, my hands-down favorites where the dozens of Nancy Drew novels my mother had. I plowed through those eagerly and probably read each of them about four times. My favorite of those was "The Moonstone Castle Mystery", though it's been 20 years or more since I last read it and couldn't tell you for sure why.

My favorite book when I was a young child was "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Suess. I think I checked this book out of our school library 3 weeks out of 4. My mom got soooo tired of reading it to me. I still love it!! I could almost recite it word for word. Dr. Suess books are still my favorites. My kids love geah, and "Fox in Socks." They think it's funny when mommy's tounge gets tied reading that one. (it gets pretty sore, too!)

Was funny to read ur comment cuz can imagine ur poor mom who had to read ur Dr.Suess over and over again. I also used to asked my mom to read my favourite book again and again. And only years later when i had to read same books for my cousins i understood how "nice" it had to be for my mom :)

My favorite was a comic series known as Tinkle. It used to contain so many short stories and it also had beautiful science facts and animal facts presented in a comic way that you used get both facts as well as fun. My father was a big fan of the way Tinkle used to present facts to children, so every month he used to get from the lending library. If I have to look for a book, then Panchatantra was my favorite. This again was a collection of stories revolving around humans and animals with a moral for each story. It is great fun for reading aloud as well as enacting as a kid. Cheers! Ram

As a child I loved the Mr Men series, you know the collection of Mr Men, I think there were 26 in total. I used to love Mr Messy and Mr Bump, I used to feel sorry for poor Mr Bump, I would take these to school with me. I used to get them bought for me for birthdays and Christmas, mum has still got them now at home and doesn't want to part with them.

when i was a kid i was left at home most of the time and i couldnt get my fill of the books that i could read. I started with my Grollier&Dunlap four volume Disney books, then i started with Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, then i had Alfred Hitchcock's the Three Investigators, from there i progressed to other novels. When I was a teenager i became a ghost story fanatic and read the likes of Stephen King and Anne Rice and my Dad brought me two books that were compilations of ghost stories around the world. Though im a girl, i never had that romance, chick pocketbook phase that most of my friends were reading lol. i considered them quite absurd lol

I also liked reading very much when i was kid as well as i do now. And at early ages when i couldnt read i always asked my mom what he is reading and asked her to read me aloud. So i remeber when i was 4 my mom was reading that time Jack London and Émile Zola. I have to say that Zola was scary for me :)) When i started reading myself i liked very much advantures books such as Robert Louis Stevenson, Thomas Mayne Reid and James Fenimore Cooper. Thank u for reply!

my parents didnt read to me when i was a kid. how i came to love reading, i have NO idea. i guess it was just something that came to me naturally. i can remember being in first grade and asking my mom to take me to the library. she would take me, and we would spend hours there. she also enjoyed reading, but she had her books. i always went for the ramona quimby books. i dont remember the author, but the main character was alittle girl named ramona quimby. i hope my kids will love to read as much as i do.
