Plagiarism and Copyright Infringement on mylot?

I have seen a lot of Copyright Infringement and Plagiarism on Mylot. I realize that some people may not be aware that they are actually infringing on the rights of freelance writers who make a living from writing. Some feel that if they cite the source that it is ok to post articles in their full entirety. This is not true. Quoting the first paragraph, first few sentences, or a quote from the article is fine, but posting the full article without permission from the source is actually a copyright violation. Copyright belongs to the author the moment is in a fixed form. Do you report plagiarism and copyright infringement found on mylot?

i have reported one person for posting the exact same thing someone else had posted the previous day. Yes i've seen full articles listed on here as well with a link to the page it came from.

Yes, there is one poster on mylot in particular that copies and pastes all her discussions from yahoo answers, askyahoo, and wilkihow. I have reported 45 so far to mylot and include the link to the original that she copied from, and plan to do more, its just time consuming. After deleting 45 of her discussions I would have thought they would have reprimanded her or something, but it keeps happening so I guess not. It does bother me though, because I don't feel that's the way to make money here.

I don't report it. Even thought I know it is wrong, and frown upon it. I do not believe in making people's lives worse by bringing in authorities--who always make things worse... however, I do see your dilema, and I understand your concern, in particular. I don't even think some people realize that it is a crime. What's really the saddest thing here, is the lack of people's ability to produce an original thought or statement. (I even wonder if such a thing is realistically possible).

I guess it bothers me more because I am a writer.

On the whole (to the degree I am aware of it), I report plagiarism and copying on myLot. I also subscribe to the convention of quoting others' work by posting a "teaser," followed by a link to the rest of the story. What you say here is largely true, although it bears remembering that quite a bit of web content is published under "Creative Commons" guidelines... and can be quoted, adjusted and used under whatever version of "some rights reserved" is stipulated by the original creator.

What I saw and reported was not under a creative commons.

No, I don't see anything yet. Although, I see some emails from Agloco being posted here. But I don't think it's plagiarism. I heard though from one of my friend here in myLot that some of his articles are being copied and pasted here. Yes, I would definitely report one if I'd seen one. Thanks.

I post on other boards and usually when I see something that is taken from another posting or another board, or even from printed matter, I will inform the person of what they did, and let them take care of it. If it is a mistake then either they can take it down or get permission. As long as they acknowledge it and take care of it why do you have to report it.

What if you did go to them and they took offense to it? On mylot they can not delete it like they can on a blog.
