Doggie doo doo duty? |
| |
| Everybody has to try something new in their lives do we not? Well today was that day for me to try a new adventure so to speak. This is something that I find and did finally realize is as nasty as having a baby and needing to change that poopy diaper daily. I own a beagle named Buster. Now I take him for walks daily and not once have I ever taken a baggie with me to do the doggie doo doo clean up like a good pet owning citizen should. And to say that in 2 years he has yet to take a dump on a neighhbors yard is amazing. I time the walks right after he does his bussiness in my yard. Now for some reason today I took a baggie with me. Just a premonition maybe. Well after about 2 blocks he stops, squats and lets it loose. Now I grabbed the baggie turning it inside out setting my hand inside the doggie doo doo toilet bag reaching down I grasp the poop in the baggie with my hands. The heat was beyond comparison. The stench was that way beyond a sick babies diaper. This was the most disgusting thing I've had to do in my life yet. Yuck. Ickyyy. Phew!! Etc etc. I think I'll be timning his walks after he already does his business at home. At home I grab the small rake and shovel and toss it into the garbage. | | Well, that was certainly a great story to top my afternoon. Just as I began thinking about what to make for dinner. Guess I will have to put that off for a while. lol. Just think if someone invented a doggie toilet, they would makes millions. Cats have a litter box, so there must be something that someone can dream up for a dog...lol. | | | | | | |

| | Actually, they have invented dog litter boxes but only designed for small/medium dogs like Buster along with dog litter. lol Far as I know, you can only find them at pet stores. I know Petco and Petsmart have them cause seen em at both stores. As for training a dog to use it is beyond me. | | | |

| | whew...thanks for sharing grandpa Bob! I'm so happy I've already had my dinner! lolol...I used to have a dog and always took him to a dog park where I let him off his leash to go into the "poop" yard to do his thing. He really never did have an accident on the way to or back from that park and I thanked him a million times a day for that! | | | | | | |

| | I really appreciate that you DID do the right thing and clean up after your pet. We have a large yard and I have to do the duty several times a week and before I mow the lawn. I wouldn't mind cleaning up after the dog, IF I had one. Someone must know our habits and either in the wee hours of the morning or late at night while we are sleeping, enjoy using our yard as dumping ground. I find it very disrespectful to do that to someone else's property. I am glad to hear someone does the responsible thing and takes responsibility for their pet! | | | | | | |

| | I had never done this before. Even though it was disgusting I now know what it would feel like for non dog owners to have to clean it from their yards. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |

| | I know what you mean. We have neighbors who have a too long of chain on their dogs. They are always putting their mess in our yard. So much fun to find when I'm mowing the lawn. | | | |

| | I'm sorry, Bob, but I just have to laugh. Not because of what happened, but because something VERY SIMILAR happened to me! I had just put new grass clippings in the garden and started spreading it around the veggies for a mulch. I had to go inside for a second, and came back to finish my job. Right as I grabbed the fresh clippings, I found somethng else FRESH in the grass. A cat (probably mine) did her business and very neatly disguised it so I wouldn't see it. ARGH! Thank goodness I was at home, so I could run in and clean it up. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever stuck my hands into! | | | | | | |

| | That's quite the graphic description, Grandpa Bob. I can envision it, and can 'almost' smell it too. To me, one of the worst smells in the world, is that of doggie doo doo. Have you ever smelled 'the disgusting aroma,' and wondered why it seemed 'so near,' then you realized it was on the bottom of your shoe? Been there, done that ... groooooooooooosssssssss!!! | | | | | | |

| | Ever since doing that I swear I smell poop in the house. Yes I searched all over even the bottoms of shoes I haven't worn in a week. It still smells like poop for some reason. Guess it's a smell that sticks with you? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |

I have been in that situation with baggie on hand and feeling the texture thru the bag, and the smell and the heat made me start dry heaving! I couldn't hang with it, and I can't even imagine how it is for someone that has a huge dog like a great dane?! GAG!!! | | | | | | |

| | That is funny! Our dog uses it outside in the yard too and we never take bags when we take her for a walk. She actually only pees when we take her for a walk, I guess we time it just right too. | | | | | | |

| | What's really hilarious is that the walks I take Buster on are at least 30 minutes long. He stops at every tree, mailbox, hydrant, and garbage can sitting outside to mark it with his urine. After 2 or so he doesn't even trickle on them. It's like, Okay Buster ya can't pee so don't try. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |

| | Well G.B. I live in a townhome, so I have to perform this task at least 5 times a week. The worst is when my yellow lab Xena poops in the winter and I can see the steam rising from the mound on the snow! At least it's easy to locate. But the smell is worse in the cold weather, P.U. I would rather pick up dog poop than clean a cat box any day. I have two cats from my apartment years and ichhhhh. I hate cleaning that d#@!ed box. | | | | | | |

| | I'd agree with you there. I also used to have cats. Cleaning the litter box was a worse smell in my mind anyhow. The ammonia scent was just too much for me. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |
