The only Republican I'd vote for is Ron Paul, and maybe, just maybe Giuliani (if he drops his stance on illegal immigration). If it's anyone other than that...I'm voting democrat, even if it's (*shudders*) Clinton.

How does anyone who considers voting for Ron Paul justify even thinking of a socialist elitist like Hillary?

So far I have yet to hear any democrat who is excited about any of the candidates running. I know it's way too early to tell, but there just doesn't seem to be a very good pool. Obama gets the most excitement going, but everyone I talk to about him seems to have a different idea of what he's about... which tells me they are more into the hype that the candidate. We'll see what develops.

Well, on the day after the Iowa Caucuses it seems there were many Democrats who were VERY excited! The turn-out exceeded their wildest dreams. Many of the most conservative pundits - including some on Fox News - have said things look rather bleak for the GOP. I have a very GOOD feeling right at the moment! Annie

Now hold on. Don't get so worried. 2008 is a long way from now and a lot of things can happen. The democrates are over there running as far left as humanly possible. This will make it hard for them to run to the center during the general election. Clinton Inc., is trying their best to destroy all the democrates in her path. This is making a lot of enemies of the Clintons'. Bill didn't run this way. Hillary's personality is different than Bill's. She is dispised by more people than Bill is. Now I know the republican party looks a little shaky right now, but don't worry it is setting up for somebody to come out of the wood work, and take the reins of the party.

I am also afraid that you are right, the democrats will probably be able to win the 2008 election simply because every one is so very tired of Bush and what the Republicans have done so far. Also Hillary is able to get a lot of hype going and has also got the advantage (or disadvantage to some) of being a woman. Obama is possibly a good and "fresh" candidate. He might actually not be so bad and manage to accomplish something if he gets in office. On the other hand, Obama is a political "newbie" without much experience in politics. This is both a good thing and a bad thing. It means that just maybe he won't be as set in his ways and jaded as most politicians are, but it also means that he may have a much harder time accomplishing anything at all. I had actually caught myself leaning toward Hillary for a while there, but have since found some articles and information that are rather contradictory and have made me reconsider my choice. She is not a good option from my point of view any more as I now find myself unable to trust her at all. I feel that she is simply saying what the voters want to hear, and will then do what she wants when and if she gets elected. On the other hand I am just now beginning to research the possible Republican Nominees and am not too sure just what I think of any of them right now. I was trying to stay away from the Republican party this time for several reasons, one of the biggest ones being the situation in Iraq. If it comes down to choosing between a republican that I don't like or trust or Hillary, though, I believe that I will be forced to vote Republican any way.
