Hydrangea, Forever Pink |
|
I have had this in the ground for 2 years now this is the 3rd blooming season. Finally it appears it will look great. Last year we had one single floerlet on it. Now I've 4 at least and appears a fifth is growing. They have started to open up finally as well. Hydrangea are really hard to grow here in Minnesota outdoors but seems grandpas green thumb has pulled through finally on this one. This hydrangea has been babied as opposed to all my other flowers and fruits and veggies. This one gets food and fertilizer during the year. It's special I guess. It's my wives favorite flower out in my yard. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

2. Darkwing (7519) | 3 years ago | I hope your hydrangea flowers well, Grandpa Bob. They can be really lovely when out. I presume you have a pink one? Did you know that the hydrangea is normally white, but it also gives forth blue, red, pink, or purple flowers. The colour often depends on the pH of the soil; acidic soils produce blue flowers, neutral soils, pale cream and alkaline soils produce pink or purple. Aluminium is released from acidic soils, and in some species, forms complexes in the hydrangea flower giving them their blue colour.
So, there you go! It would be interesting to note the colour yours bloom in.
Good luck with them, and Brightest Blessings.

creematee (1645) | 3 years ago | I was going to tell Bob this, as well! LOL!
Actually, though, his is just a pink one. I haven't seen an endless summer hydrenga that blooms blue. I do agree, though, that the blue blooming hydrengas are specatular!!!

Darkwing (7519) | 3 years ago | There are lots of blue here, in England, probably more than pink. We get quite a few purple ones as well. I guess our soil's different.

7. blackbriar (6287) | 3 years ago | With your green thumb, I bet you can grow anything, Grandpa Bob. Glad to hear your Hydrangea is blooming more than a single flower. I bought one for my mom for a combo Mother's day/birthday present and she said it bloomed one flower and it's a very beautiful shade of dark pink. Wish I was there to get a pic of it.

It has not bloomed in two years. I do not remember what color it is. I do not know if I am over watering it or what is wrong. It is in mostly shade, I do not know if it needs more sun. Help please.
