Ever get stumped when someone asks you something?  |

|  I had a phone call a few minutes ago. It was my cable company. They said they were just calling to let me know about their phone service and she asked me if I was familiar with it. I said yes that my mom had it and I wasn't interested in it. Then she says "May I ask why?" Then it was like I couldn't get the sentence out of my mouth. I knew what I was trying to say but I just couldn't get it out. I said "I just uh I just don't uh I'm happy with who I'm with now." Then I had to laugh at myself because I sounded so funny. Sometimes when people ask me something I guess it just catches me off guard. LOL I wasn't expecting her to ask me why I wasn't interested. I could have said cause my mom's phone service is terrible with you guys. Sometimes she can't even use her phone and has to go to the neighbor's house or use her cell phone so that's the real reason I don't want it. But I didn't want to be mean and say something like that. So do you ever get stumped when someone asks you something?

| |  That reminds me, years ago when cell phones were first coming out I had a young girl maybe 16 or so call me. I knew what the call was by her first question but had to laugh loudly. Then she got embarresed and hung up on me. The thing she first asked me was. "Do you have phone service available in your area?" Well I thought duhhhh! You called me didn't you. She didn't say cell phone service. That's why I laughed then she realized what she had asked. Too funny I think.

LOL I had the same thing with Comcast trying to sell me cable when I moved to the country.
The funny part? They didnt at the time service where I moved. I would have had to pay an unholy amount of money to get the lines ran, get at least 50 households to sign up and sign a contract. Um no. I don't even have 50 neighbors in my area. We all live on at least 30+ acres. There aren't that many homes in my area.
DirecTV it is. I love them.

I am very good at thinking on my feet. I had a DirecTV guy call and offer me Starz free for 3 months if I signed up for HBO. I told him I didn't need all that as I subscribe to the NHL Center Ice package they offer. I had hockey and that was all that matters. For the next half hour, we had a friendly argument over the best team in the league. When he got off, he laughed and said that was the easiest sale he never made. | | | |

| | Luckily I am the type that can hang up easily. But in this situation I would have more than likely asked a question right back at them. Like I may have asked, "If I was interested don't you think I would have called?" HAHAHA! Or even better tell them you don't want a phone anymore due to this type of call. HAHAHAHA!! Most this type calls are from telemarketers. They have a response sheet for things about the services they're calling about. If you ask something dumb then they get all confused. I've actually had them hang up on me after asking them some type of stupid question. Once when we bought our house I wanted either cable TV or Sattelite TV. Well Direct TV offered free instalation. Cable charged $75 for installing it. I refused then they asked me why I don't want it. I asked, "Can you pay the $75 for me?" The girl thought a minute then I heard click. She must have looked on her crib sheet for a response to this question and couldn't find it. HAHAHA! Okay I am done babbling on now.

| |  Yeah, sometimes I do get stumped because I don't want to be brutally honest and hurt someone's feelings. I try to be tactful, but still get the truth out there somehow. I guess I might have told that lady why, since she asked. She shouldn't ask a question she doesn't want the answer to.
I cans see where that would have caught you off guard. Maybe call her back and tell her the service is lousy and you just didn't want to say so before.. hehe.

| |  Well, yes I have been caught off guard sometimes and not had a ready answer but in the circumstances you were mentioning I'm usually just quite honest about it. I'm not rude about it - I don't say "because I heard you were cr@p" lol! I would phrase it nicely but still say more or less the same thing.

| |  I usually dont get stumped when talking to telemarketers. I used to be one so i know what to say to get them to quit calling. They usually always ask why you arent interested. As if that really matters. I usually just hang up if they wont listen to me...
