It is Saturday night, and once again I am watching old movies. This time an old Henry Fonda movie "Midway"
My grandmother and I started the Saturday night movie tradition when I was just a little girl. We would watch John Wayne's world war II movies, or Bob Hope and Dean Martin musicals or westerns with Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford.
Do you like the old movies?
Who are your favorite actors and actresses?
What is your favorite movie?
mine...by the way is Donovan's Reef with John Wayne.

I like a lot of these old movies that play on amc. I was raised on Clint Eastwood. My father liked watching his old westeron movies. Bob Hope and Dean Martin are two funny actors. John Wayne is a great actor also.

My dad loved Clint Eastwood too. Him and John Wayne. It must be mandatory for men. LOL

I agree. My husband isn't a huge John Wayne fan...but he loves Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford.
Of course, I could watch Robert Redford any day of the week and twice on Sundays! I'm brain fried this morning. do you remember what the name of the movie was that he did with Michelle Pheifer about the newspaper reporters?

NO...not newspaper...television. And he gets killed covering some kind of war overseas.

I long for the days when they used to show old movies on TV late at night. Now, where I live, they just show B movies (those that failed at the box office...for good reason). I liked "The Philadelphia Story" and anything with Katherine Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, or Cary Grant. There are a lot of oldies I haven't seen and now I don't think they even carry them at Blockbuster anymore. I also loved all those dancing movies, like "Singing in the Rain." It's nice that you have carried on that tradition!

I love the old musicals...South Pacific, Annie get your gun, 7 brides for 7 brothers.
Our drama department is doing Oklahoma! this fall. My daughter is auditioning for the part of Laurie.

I do like old movies, espcially older musicals with Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, or Danny Kaye. I also enjoyed Arsenic and Old Lace quite a bit, and I didn't think I would. Rita Hayworth is an actress I really appreciate from that time as well.

I think one of the best movies from that time was probably a Connecticut yankee in King Author's Court. We saw that one a couple of weeks ago. My girls hadn't ever seen it. They absolutely rolled. My oldest and one of her friends were literally laying on the floor just in tears from laughing so hard.

I have never seen this movie. My hubby couldn't sleep the other night and told me he was up watching this same movie!

I don't like John Wayne and I have not ever been much into watching westerns. I do love Jimmy Stuart though. I'll watch something with him as the star.

I don't really like the westerns that John Wayne was in. But I do like all the world war II movies he was in.
One of the reason's that I liked Donovan's Reef so much was because of the kids that were in it. They were so cute.

I love old movies. I keep track of what TCM is showing every month, so I don't miss out on any favorites. My favorite actors are Cary Grant, Gene Kelly, and Danny Kaye. I have lots more, but those are the top three. I think Cary Grant is the best actor. As for actresses, my favorites are Bette Davis (best) and Katharine Hepburn. Again, those are just the top of a long list.

Favorite movie? Can't name just one. I love musicals. I also think The Manchurian Candidate (the original) is one of the best movies ever. I also love Hitchcock films. The best one, in my opinion, is Shadow of a Doubt.

I watched one yesterday called "Bounce" It was Ben Afflick (very young, it seemed) and Jennifer Gray and several others that I recognized, but couldn't put a name on. He trades tickets with this man that needs to get home to his family for Christmas, and the plane crashes and it kills him. Ben's character ends up, more than a year later, meeting this man's widow and falling in love with her and their sons. It was so good. I couldn't believe I'd never seen it before.

I am an old movie fan. My favorite movie is Double Imdemnity with Fred McMurray and Barbara Stanwyk. I also like Stagecoach with John Wayne, Gaslight with Ingrid Bergman, all those Calvary movies with John Wayne, North by Northwest with Cary Grant, Dial M for Murder with Grace Kelly (the best part is when Ray Milland showed the photo of the men gathered around the table and one of them was Alfred Hitchcock.) I also liked Twelve Angry Men with Henry Fonda, all the Bob Hope and Bill Crosby "Road to=-" movies, the Manchurian Candidate with Frank Sinatra, and there are many more.

But the above are my favorites. Oh and my husband liked Midway.

I was watching Eight on the Lam with Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller as I was going to sleep last night. I didn't think I was sleepy, but evidently was, because I went to sleep before it was over! I was kind of disappointed because it was really cute, and I'd never seen it before.
