Are you living in an old home? Perhaps it's been in your family for centuries. In that case, do you know your family's history? Maybe your house belonged to royalty once or some other famous figure. Who ever owns our home in Soerabaja, Indonesia I have this to say. Be blessed, enjoy the acres of fruit trees and vegetation. It was a house filled with love, but we lost it in WWII as our family was taken to a POW camp. All we know now is that it became government property. Do you know the story your house can tell, so to speak?

Hi,there! I don't think my house has a long history cause it's a new one. It's not too special.People built this one so that it can offer places for the employees to live in.It belongs to my grandpa and his company bulit this apartment for him.I think it's really nice to have an old house.Though it might be old,it contains the traditional feeling and the architecture style. The culture is also included in the house. The house is not only a place that you can live in but also a treasure that you can appreciate.

I guess when we can appreciate the treasure we begin calling it home. The people we share our home with also make it a treasure. I think it's sweet to build homes for employees. I hope it's a good one.

Woa, I bet you there's some interesting records of your house down at City Hall. Let's hope your house stays above water for the rest of your lives. :)

I only know it was built in 1965 and is not haunted! Actually, I know nothing about the history of our house.

Yep, the house was built by a bunch of hippies, I think. And this house definitely has some hippie ideas.......lol I grew up right in the midst of the hippie generation. Was loads of fun.

Ah, the hippee years! At least they were creative back then. It's all about track housing these days, cleverly disguised with names like Kaybee and Martha Stewart homes. lol. Glad to hear there's no hauntings going on.

This is a very interesting discussion. I live in a relatively modern house these days but my last home had a fascinating history. It was part of an old Victorian workhouse. It had been developed into individual cottages and I had one of them. the whole workhouse was built in a square shape with a fancy entrance and and inside courtyard. The entrance housed the management and my side of the square was the men's part of it. The opposite side was the women's part of it. The building in the middle was the chapel. One of the cottages has a rail where the babies cradles were hung up. I remember an anniversary day when I found out more about it's history. It is sad that in the past your family was taken to a POW camp. I feel sorry for anyone that has lost their home during a war or other disaster like flooding for instance.

Oh, I just love Victorian homes and their history. The term "workhouse" says quite a lot on its own. A chapel in the middle, how interesting. And yes, it's sad that we lost our family home during WWII but here's a funny story (or a wonderful one). My Aunt and Uncle visited the old neighborhood in Indonesia and found a statue of our great-grandfather in front of "City Hall." Is that not a hoot? It was rather emotional for them to see it. All in all my family lost 6 homes and 100s of acres. But we all are blessed here.

Wow Silvana. You should really gather all the different stories throughout the existence of that house. Look at al that history. You could write a book. Sheez girlfriend, I would help you write it. That's beautiful. Do you have pictures? Don't lose any of it.

Yes, I know the history of my house, which used to be fields. The real estate agency bought the land and built houses there for sale and we bought it. It has now five years' history, yet still very new.

Hi William, what kind of fields were they? Do you know the people who worked the fields. What was grown there. That is all so very interesting.

I'm thinkin' in the three short years you house might have some history to speak of. You probably aren't allowed to share it though. Hope life is treating you well, my friend.

Yeah, that's sweet too. We're having a house built. That's the first time ever. It's a brand new experience and it's testing my patience a great deal. I shall survive.
