What shoes are "you"?

What kind of shoes do you prefer? Do you like pointy toes or round toes of shoes? Do you like heels or flats? Do you like open-toed or closed-toed shoes? Do you like black, brown, white, or colored shoes? Do you like to wear shoes or would you rather go without them? Do you wear flip-flops all the time? Do you wear tennis shoes all the time? Do you think shoes reflect what kind of person you are? Do you like to shop for shoes? Do you try on your shoes before you buy them? Do you polish and repair your shoes or throw them out when they get worn? What size shoes do you wear? Do you like expensive shoes that last for a long time or do you like cheap shoes that you have to replace more often? Do you have any favorite shoe stores? How much is "too much" when you're buying shoes? How many pairs of shoes do you own? Do you borrow and wear other people's shoes? If you could only have one kind of shoe, what kind would you have?

Oh man! What are you, a cobbler or what!! But seriously I have never come across so many questions on shoes. That someone can actually think so much on shoes is an achievement in itself and as a reward to that, here’s my response to your post. There was a time when I loved walking on stilettos for the style factor. But now I am more into the comfort mode so I love walking on open-toed flat shoes. They are not absolutely flat, just a little elevated at the heels and the inside is super-soft. I cant walk on hard shoes as I tend to develop corns and they are very painful. I try to repair my old shoes as much as possible coz they kind of fit into the feet so comfortable, just like second skin. New shoes, no matter how expensive, always pinch for the some weeks at least. I like shopping for shoes but don’t do that often as I am not a very colour coordinated person. I find it an absolute waste of hard-earned money to go on buying shoes for each and every outfit.

Excellent response. Yours was so interesting to read! I appreciate your compliment on my achievement (LOL). Yesterday I was just on a roll coming up with all of those questions once I starting thinking about shoes. Obviously, I love them and couldn't live without them! I didn't realize how many questions there were until I started the discussion with all the questions spaced a line apart. (I figured it would be easier for fellow myLotters to read that way.) My shoe taste is very similar to yours. I used to be all about the heels because they are so cute. I still wear them when I'm modeling because it's a must. When I'm not modeling or looking that cute (LOL), I wear my flats whether it's flip-flops, tennis shoes, or my favorites Dr. Martens. I like how you mentioned your flats as "not completely flat." I've heard that it's much better on your feet not to walk in shoes that are completely flat like a pancake. Your feet have absolutely no support that way. I could definitely picture what kind of shoes you were talking about when you mentioned the "super-soft" insides. I like the squishy ones too! Gel insides are absolutely amazing. You brought up a really good point that I haven't seen in any responses to this discussion yet. It's better to hold on to old shoes as long as possible because they're already broken in. It takes forever to break in new shoes, especially heels because we most likely don't walk correctly in them anyway. I appreciate your humility to admit that you're not very good at color coordinating. However, that saves you the trouble of going out and buying new shoes all the time! Good for you. I'm with you also when you said buying a pair of shoes for every outfit is a waste of time and money. It's the truth! Thanks for responding. Keep up the good work!

Wow, someone sure loves writing, just like me. So you are a model (professional?)! Wonderful for you people. You get to wear such lovely clothes, accessories and the latest make-up. Throw in the pay, glitzy parties and bashes and it’s a breathtakingly whirlwind profession for such a short shelf-life. Enjoy it while it lasts and my best wishes to you for the new year.

I'm not a professional model...yet. I don't know that I would like to make a profession of it, to tell you the truth. I prefer to do so on the side as I work full time. It's a lot of fun, though. I just don't want my lifestyle to reflect it. I love eating and don't want to become anorexic anytime soon! (LOL) I got to participate in a hair show back in October, which was a blast. I'm going to be in a fashion show in April. I'm really going to have to brush up on my poise before then. (Since I do modeling on the side, I can get a little rusty in between shows.) There aren't many opportunities where I live, so I get plenty of breathers between shows. Thanks again for your response and comments. :)

You have tiny feet! Enjoy it. I think my feet are probably about seven sizes bigger than yours. Do you have a hard time finding shoes in your size? Of course, if you're wearing tennis shoes and flip-flops a lot, you probably have quite a variety. I like Nike brand shoes too. My boyfriend bought me a pair of blue, silver, and white Nike Shox for Christmas last year. I wouldn't buy them for myself, but I really like them. Thanks for sharing!

By the way, when I said my feet are seven sizes larger than yours, I was counting half sizes too! My feet aren't really size 12. (LOL) I'm at about an 8 or 8 1/2 shoe. Thanks again, Subha.

You are so specific. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate your response because you've described how you can wear different shoes for various occasions. However, at the same time you can still only own a couple pairs of shoes. I don't know how you do it, though! I must have about 30 or more pairs of shoes, but I guess that's just how girls are. It's great to hear a man's opinion of this question also. Thank you for participating!

I"m the shoes that are comfortable and don't hurt my feet. The ones that are not too pointy and are flat or have a heel that is not distorting my spine. I'm the show that is more black than brown but that can be colourful too when I feel like it. I'm the show that is on the foot rather the one that is out, at least if I"m not home or at the beach. I'm the shoe that reflects the person that likes comfort, things that are naturall and enjoys some sports. I am the number 7 shoe although I can be the number 8 boot LOL I'm also the medium priced shoe. Nor the one that is made of plastic and makes your feet sweat, but neither the one that is so expensive that I need to sell my first born to buy it, specially the one that costs more because of name and not quality. I am the shoe that has quite a few "family members" paired of ready to wear, so there is some variety, but not so many that are being left forgotten because there are too many. I am the show that is sometimes worn by the other girl in the family, and that's ok too :)

You are so right! A shoe that doesn't do good to your spine shouldn't be worn at all. I know I have enough back problems as it is, so I needed your response! Thank you for being so specific. You have an average-size foot, so that's something to be thankful for. You probably have a pretty easy time finding your size in any shoe. I like how you mentioned your boot size is different. I also wear a bigger size in boots just to make sure they're comfortable and have enough room for my toes! (LOL) I also like how you mentioned the different materials that make up the shoes because I never really thought about how shoes can be too hot or too cold. I don't like when shoes make my feet sweat because then my feet make my shoes smell bad! I know I have too many shoes because I always forget which ones I have. I also have summer shoes and winter shoes, so it's really hard to keep track of them all. Thank you for your response, Arka!

I like the look of pointy toed shoes. although round ballet flats are in these days. i prefer heels cos I'm quite short and they give me a significant lift. feel less like a midget. i like black shoes cos they are practical, but also like brown and beige coordinated shoes. i like going without shoes at home and in my carpeted office. i wear tennis shoes or track shoes when i go running. i don't really like to shop for shoes although i know many women do. i definitely try on my shoes when i shop for them. guess I'm not quite the imelda marcos type and have relatively few shoes in comparision with gals my age.

I agree with you as I really like how pointy-toed shoes look also, especially under long pants and even jeans. I have yet to find a pair that don't make my feet like bigger than they already are, though! Those who have small feet really have an advantage to wearing pointy-toed shoes. I'm glad you enjoy heels, and hopefully you don't have a hard time walking in them. It sounds like you wear them a lot, so you probably have an easier time managing in about any kind of heel better than taller people. That's definitely an advantage! You're right about black shoes being the most common because they're easier to match up with outfits and things. I appreciate you mentioning "brown and beige coordinated shoes" because some people just can't match those two colors up with clothes very well. I love going barefoot also as long as it's warm. I don't go barefoot outside unless it's on the beach. I don't want to get tapeworm or anything! (LOL) Thank you for your response, Square!

Your answers were very thorough. I appreciate your response. I like how you wear flat shoes when it's raining. I've slipped so many times when it's wet outside and need to be more careful! It sounds like you wear a lot of slippers around the house. Do you ever wear slippers outside your house? Fifteen pairs of shoes isn't that much, but not too few either. That's a good number of shoes to have. Good for you!

Depending on the occasion... pointy toes and heels for dressup, closed toes (you know what that mean)? The color - mostly black but should match the outfit. I had much rather just be barefoot. Since I'm an organization freak, all of my shoes are well thought out purchases, tried on - usually more than once and walked in for a few minutes. When I get them home they are photographed and the picture is taped to the outside of the box and placed in my shoe closet according to color. I usually purchase expensive shoes as they are made better to last longer and have a better life. I buy shoes that are timeless, and have several pair from each fashion generation. Have to keep up you know. While I might purchase expensive shoes I wouldn't pay a lot for them. I'll tell you my secret. I buy my shoes (Bruno Maglia, Calvin Klein, and other name brands) from high end second hand stores. You would be amazed at the selection. Some of them still have the tags on them. My latest pair was a pair of Bruno Maglia heels for only 20 bucks. The pricetag which was still on the shoes was priced at $165.00. Never worn, in style and still in the box they came in. What a deal. If I had my druthers though, I usually go barefoot with a good pedicure. Can't go without the polish......Love my feet....

I really need to stick to your methods! I've never heard of anyone taking a picture of the shoes to put on the box, but what a great way to organize! I'm a "neat freak" myself, which you've probably already figured out, so this will be a great tool when I (finally) get my closet and bedroom organized. That's one of my projects/resolutions/goals for this year. I'm just like you - my toenails MUST be painted to be shown anywhere in public. A good pedicure goes a long way. I'm lucky because one of my younger sisters likes to and is super good at French manicures and pedicures. She loves doing it too. She's gotten so good. I let her practice on me all the time! It's wonderful. I will definitely miss that when I move out - lol. There are advantages to having younger siblings! I appreciate you sharing you "tricks" with me. I will definitely have to look for some sales. I could talk about shoes all day. Thanks again for participating in yet another of my discussions. Keep up the good work, my friend!

Hi, Dreamy! I appreciate you using your tool of being able to copy and paste! I (obviously) haven't earned that privilege yet. Thanks for your answers. First of all, you wear the same size shoe as I do. Second, I absolutely love DSW, so you've got excellent taste! When it comes to price, I won't pay over $40 for a pair of shoes, but it also depends on how much I like them and how much I think they're worth - lol. I haven't actually gone shopping and bought shoes in a while. My brother is such a genius because he gave me a $20 gift card to DSW for Christmas. They're building a DSW two miles from my house, so I'm ecstatic!! That store can't move fast enough for me! Thanks so much for sharing.

I love shoes. I rarely wear high heels but if I do they are usually black, always open-toe and strappy. I do have a pair of really pretty silver ones too though. I have some white and pink Adidas tennis shoes that I like but hardly ever wear. My every day shoes are my baby blue and cream colored Diesel shoes. My most expensive shoes are my brown Coach shoes. They costed over $300, my husband got them for me as a gift for Christmas one year. I like expensive shoes and really want this pair of black Louis Vuitton tennis shoes, but I would have never paid that much for a pair of shoes! I almost choked when I found out how much he paid for them. I hate flip-flops and Crocs. My children live in both though, they love them. I find them hideous. Oh, and they love their Heely's of course. I have no idea how many pairs of shoes I own, less than before Hurricane Katrina. I like my sandals to be open toe and have a heel. Brown or black are my favorite colors for sandals. I usually go with a shade of brown though. I wear a size 6 and a half. I don't borrow shoes, unless it is to slip on my 10 year old son's ugly Crocs to run out to the mail box or something quickly. I don't think I could choose just one shoe.

Hey there, Money! You definitely covered all your bases. Thanks for being so specific; I really liked reading your response. I think it's great that you love expensive shoes. You've got excellent taste (and apparently your husband does too!) I'm sorry to hear that you had some shoe casualities during Katrina. I went through Ivan in 2004, and that was no fun! I think it's really funny that you have such good taste, but yet your kids insist on wearing their cheapo shoes! I don't like crocs, but flip-flops are a pretty common thing for me when it's warm out. And at least you're saving money on their shoes to buy your shoes! I hope you get the pair of shoes you mentioned that you wanted. Thanks so much for sharing. I appreciate your response!
