My son turned 8 yesterday. He did not get much for his birthday since it is so close to Christmas, but he really appreciated what he did get. His father called him for the first time ever on his birthday. When his dad asked him what he wanted for his birthday he responded, "to see you". He has not seen his father in 9 months. It made me a little sad to hear that all he really wanted for his birthday was his dad. Do your kids birthday wishes ever surprise you?

My son is eight as well. HAPPY belated Birthday to yours. That is so sad that your son can't see his father. My family live very far away and we can't see them very much and this christmas my six year old asked santa to bring him his grandfather for christmas. I thought it was sweet but sad that we couldn't give him that. Though he was still happy with his Ben 10 toys LOL

It is not that his father lives too far away. Although it is about an hour and a half drive now. Even when he lived only 25 minutes away he never came to see him.
My son is really into Ben 10 right now. He got 3 of them for Christmas plus 2 Ben 10 puzzles. He also got Ben 10 stuff for his birthday.

What a lovely unselfish son you have! A lot of children want playstations, games and new fangled inventions which cost a fortune but for your son just to want to see his father is a wonderful gesture, you must be very proud of him!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY wishes!
That's so sweet of your son to have asked to see his father. He must be missing him real bad.
My son never asks for gifts for his birthday. The only time he asked was on his 7th birthday and it wasn't something very expensive. We got him something else that he thought he might like especially since we haven't been celebrating his birthday past 2 years in a row (we lost my grandmother one year and it was too difficult to carry off a party handling the 9 month old the other year).

That is one handsome boy. My daughter says it looks alot like her cousin. Sorry to hear about his wish. But don't be too sad. Just means your son is an awesome child with a good and forgiving heart. Your son has parent issues. Most people do. I know he has good uncles who pick up the slack. My daughter wants to have her cousin up here one weekend to play. She says it's a GREAT picture!

Ya i want to see my dad and that story really made me think of my dad casue i have not seen him since i was 4 years old. I know where he is and i talk to his family all the time. But if he ever came back into the countri he would be arrested and no one wants that for them selfs so its understandable.

I dose surprise me sometimes what my boys ask for and the greta things they decide to do. I remeber one year after my oldest sons 10th birthday, he had gotten several new toys that year and said since he had so many now would it be alrgiht to donate some of his older toys to kids that didn't have any. Of course I said yes and was so happy at what a mature and grown up decision he made that I was not at all upset with myself that I probable spent a little more on his birthday then I should have because to me he was worth it.
