Update on my "Work Dilemma"

For those of you who read my discussion about my problem deciding which job to take, I have updates!!
First of all, I decided that if the nany job is offered to me, I will defeniatly take it. I think i would be crazy not to except a job that will be paying me double what I make now, plus insurance (which I don't get with current job).
And some of you know how I was worried the lady wasn't going to give me a chance because she thinks I'm too young. Well I wrote her a letter telling her about my experience, and how much I love kids. Well I got a letter back from her today, saying that she was really happy when she read my letter, and they will defeniatly keep me in mind.
Problem is, I think I might start getting unhappy at my current job soon. The manager that hired me is leaving for another hotel (and I really liked her) and the other night specialist I like working with the best (there's only 3 of us-including me) is going to go with her! And they say the new manager is going to probably go 'by the book.' Now, we kidn of do a lot of things "wrong" on our nightshift, but our first manager (who is leaving) didn't care because it wasn't that bad and she'd been working as a manager for so long she knew what was really okay. But I'm worried this new manager will be changing a lot for us.
And I may start getting really uphappy soon because of all that. So I really hope I get this new nanny job. I won't be able to quit my current job, even if I get unhappy, unless I have another job to go into. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!! =) Thanks

lol thank you lily! I forgot to ask people to cross their toes too! =P And how eyes just to be safe! lol.
I think one line in the letter I wrote to her that she really appreciated was, "there is nothing more important to me than the children in my life." which is true! =)

Maybe the new manager won't be quite so bad or maybe you can meet this person's standards.
On the other hand, every job I ever left was usually because the next boss was not like the previous one. Not because I don't like change, but because the person is usually a jerk. By the book isn't half as bad as what I've been up against. Often the next person didn't like me just because he or she didn't hire me and wanted someone else in the position. Personally, I'd be happy if I was a manager and all the hiring was already done. But up here with so few jobs, most people want to get their friends, relatives, and partners jobs. But sometimes that backfires. We had a place where right on the application, they wanted to know who you were related to and they hired all hard working people's relatives. That way if a person slacked off, they'd just tell the relative and that person would get after him or her. Then the plant started shutting down. So entire families were without jobs. So that is just plain dumb to have everyone in a family employed at the same place.
But it is a good idea to try for another job. You're young and you have many options available to you. Make sure before they leave, that you get a letter of reference from them. Once they've gone, it's too late to ask.
Since you know what the right way and by the book are supposed to be, try to do it that way until you get to know the person. Bide your time. Take care and good luck!

Thank you for a great, heart felt response.
That really sucks what happened at your old jobs. That is a really stupid idea, hiring complete families so once one lost a job, they could all be stuck! Not good for the famalies, not to mention really unfair to the current employees like you!
I'm hoping it won't be as bad with the manager as I'm thinking, but she isn't really the only problem. The one other night person who will be staying is kind of..difficult to work with. She is very very nice, but the way she works--kind of gets on my nerves, along with the nerves of the night person who's leaving. But once she leaves, It'll just be the 2 of us lol. And THAT will stress me out a lot.

If you are any type of Praying person what might be the best decision for you, is the Pray about your job situation, and God will truly open a door if the other job is where he wants you to be. And if it is not, then you need to learn to make the most out of the job you have until something better comes along. And if you have not had this New manager yet, how do you really know if they will be that Bad or not?
Just my thoughts, and Good Luck.

Krause, thank you very much for a greta response! =)
I do not believe the new manager is going to be bad. I heard that she is quite nice, but that she is new so she is going to go strictly by the book. And that might just make my job a lot harder. I don't believe she is going to be bad though.
I really hope I do get this new job though. I would love it, and I could really use the extra money and health insurance! I'm not real happy with what I get paid now, but I can't complain to them-I'm not very good at that lol.
