How Can This Happen?  |

|  I have a scanner on at home that I listen to regularly. It's interesting to hear all the calls go out and what's happening in my area. I just heard one go out to pull over a driver on one of the major highways through St. Louis who was driving a Lexus that had two flat tires? How is this possible? I would think the car would pull to one side or grind to let the driver know there is a problem.

| |  Well, it is possible to drive for a few miles on a flat and depending on how flat it isn't easily noticeable, especially on a straight flat stretch of highway. My guess is, the tires weren't all the way flat yet and the driver may have known something felt different but didn't suspect two flat tires...I mean that isn't exactly common. Or they knew the tires were flat but was trying to get it somewhere safe to pull over...or it was stolen and he/she didn't care and just wanted to get away lol.

| | You make a good point here that it could be a stolen car..lol I doubt that was the case as it was an older gentleman driving the car. There are places to pull over on the side of the highway. I find it odd this person didn't notice since the speed limit along that stretch of the highway is 60 mph. Thanks for responding. | | | |

| |  High-end tires now exist that will run several dozen miles without air, even at highway speeds. It's not a stretch to see something like that on a high-end Lexus. I don't know alot about them, so I'll have to leave it at that.

| |  Wowww. Thats one I haven't heard before. Gosh I can remember one flat tire and I wasn't able to drive on a regular road, never mind a highway. Its got to be great to be a cop. Amusing at times, thats what I mean.

The other thing that makes me think this is strange is that he had 2 flats - how often does that happen, I mean 2 at the same time, unless someone dumped a bunch of nails or something on the highway???

| | No, the person driving this car was older. I understand it's hard to hear a flat with the windows up and radio blasting but the feel of the car would change. I blew a tire little over a year ago on a very busy bridge in my Camaro. All I could do was downshift and coast until I could get off the bridge onto the shoulder.
