'I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes, and voila! That worked as well. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby.

OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS:
I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, so it's not as expensive as the can of spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of Days.
Don't spray directly on a wood door, but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames and even inside the dog house.
During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass it on. '

| |  Does it have to be the original Listerine, or can it be any flavour? I don't usually use insect repellant because I hate the smell, but this would smell much better!

| |  Wow. i have never heard of this. Mosquitos tear me up in the sprinf and the summer time. I will have to try using motuhwash. I always use listerine anyway. I will definitely pass it on if it works. Thanks for the tip.

| |  It's good of it works but... isn't that a little concerning? how something we use to wash our mouth with by gurgling it in our mouth (and maybe sometimes swallowed a little) can be an effective chemical bug exterminator? I think I'm gonna go check the ingredients of that stuff. I'm getting a little worried.

| |  Wow thanks for sharing, I wonder how someone intially thought to try it? Listerne here in UK is a lot more expensive though about £4 a bottle but will give a go with a watered down version in the summer. I usuually use a citronella candle or spray. Ellie :D

| |  Wow, this sounds good Raydene, and a lot cheaper than the cans of spray which smell awful. Do you have to dilute the listerine or use it straight from the bottle? Mosquitoes love biting me, so I will try it.

| |  When you say seat, do you mean the thing you are sitting on, or your derriere?
Great tip, Raydene, and of course you can re-use the bottle once it's empty for various things. It could be rinsed out and used as a water bottle, or maybe a vase for small flowers.
