I Bought Myself A Grilling Machine Healthier Cooking - Do You Grill Or Fry?

I have found this fantastic for making lovely toasted sandwiches too. It actually makes you see just how much fat comes out of sausages etc when cooking. So do you still fry your food or have you gone for a grilling machine to try to cook more healthily? What also are the best recipes you have cooked on one of theses machines if you have one. Ellie :D

We are grillers and have been for years. Largely because I love fried sausages, but hate them when I cook them that way, and my wife doesn't fry anything. We've got a conventional sandwich maker, but not one of the grills you are talking about. Every now and then I think that we ought to buy a deep fat fryer because I love things like deep fried camembert. But it seems a dreadful waste of money for something that will only get used once in a blue moon. So I resist and everything else goes under the grill on our oven. Happy grilling Ellie. We'll all be round for a sausage sarnie!

Oh I love Camembert with a redcurrant sauce and side salad. What it is that makes me hungry with these food discussions? LOL. Sausage sarnie haven't had one of thos for a while, think I might just do one now for breakfast or maybe a bacon and egg one. I definately try to grill more than fry and this griller I got was ony £10 in Tesco rather than the George Foreman and it toasts sandwiches so well too. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

That sounds really good. I would love to get something like that sometime. My husband and I usually grill outside on the grill. We can now grill all year long since we have a roof over our deck now. I don't have any recipes for that kind of machine. I need to get one so I can use it to grill more often and more items.

wonderful, I do not have one but I would love to own one. I do have a frying pan that has ridges that is supposed to take the fats out of foods and you then can get rid of it before you eat the meats etc.

The fyring pan that you have sounds great too, my friend uses one and instead of putting oil into it just uses a spray can to lightly coat. I was extremely lucky to find a Tesco (cheap shop in UK don't know if you have them in Canada) one in the sale for £10 otherwise I wouldn't own one either, George Foreman far too expensive for my budget. I got a George Forman grill and so far I've only done meat on it...and I do like it very much. Like you say it's awesome to see how much cooks out and know that you are eating healthier!

I have one of the older George Foreman grills. I just recently dug it out of the cabinet. I had not used it in a long time. I have been using it more often lately, but I should probably use it more than I do. It is great for cooking frozen boneless chicken. I just cook it until it starts to brown on top and then I unplug it and it finishes cooking the rest of the way. Otherwise it gets too dry.

Yes a few people have mentioned the meat gets too dry but I find mine excellent for toasted sandwiches and have done bacon and sausages so far so have not ried chicken but will bear this in mind when I do. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D

hi ellie-i dont fry anymore and haven't done for a long time mainly because foods have their own juices to cook in if anything i add a bit of water to do currys etc and grill-its so much more healthier for you-blessings littleowl

Hi Littleowl, oh I love to cook curries I may do one for dinner tonight now you have mentioned them but it is much healthier to grill I think. I still will still stirfry peppers, onions and mushrooms for fajitas or something though but with a tin spray of oil rather than a a lot. Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

I sometime fry my food using a teflon and without any oil. I think it's just like grilling. But whenever I need to use oil I always try to make do with healthy olive oil or veggie oil. The best recipe I've cooked by grilling of course is steak with my home made special sauce made from tomato sauce and added with some other spices and ingredients.

FRY!! I know its not healthy but when you fry, you can add tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, potatoes, mushrooms whatever and you can make a nice sauce with your meet, whereas when you grill I think you get dry food... Thats what I think anyway

No not healthier but far tastier I agree. I love a good fry up but these days I do the sausages and bacon on the griller and then fry the egg and mushroom etc so I combine the both really. Ellie :D
