Well, I guess that's your prerogative! I use that commonly misspelled word because I've tried to use it in posts here several times and it kept showing that is was spelled wrong. Until a few minutes ago I'd just change to a different word but this time I looked it up. Here's an interesting test for you to take:

Take a few minutes and then let me know how you did.

WoW! I hope I spelled that correctly. I thought I was a great speller. Boy was I wrong.lol. That is a good test. I never realized that I could be spelling these types of words wrong. I seem to never know when it's ible, able or whatever. Thank heavens I am home alone. I dont think I would like to admit that my spelling stinks. I got a 58% poor. I thank you for making me aware of this. I am now going to work on my spelling. I will be learning a new word and its proper spelling everyday. Its funny because I am always complaining that my daughter has it too easy with spell and grammar check, it fixes the mistakes for them without explanation. Half the time you can set it up to where it corrects without even notifying you. She and I have decided as a special project we will be learning a new word and its proper usage and spelling together. I thought at the end of the month we could test each other. THanks. You have created a special project for me and my baby. I hope other moms will do the same.dl

What a great idea! I'm from the "old school", way before spell-checkers or any of that stuff and I also thought I was a pretty good speller but I was surprised also. Kids today do have it easy and I think it hurts them in some ways. They also never really perfect their basic math skills before they're using calculators.

I only got 48%, but I checked some of the spelling after I finished the test and it looks like the test isn't 100% accurate. With question #2, I had put b) acknowledgement and with question #14 I put a) judgement. The test marked these as wrong. But how can they be wrong if they came out right on the spell checker?
I am so confused! LOL

I got the same two wrong as well. I went back and sent them through two different spell checks because this is the way I have always known to spell these words.
Microsoft Word says that judgement is wrong; but AOL spellcheck accepts it as correct.
Both spell checks accept acknowledgement as correct.

Ouch Annie that hurt! I got 16 of the 25 right. Rotflmao I actually thought I would do much better then that. But the test did give the most common, troubling words for me. great find By the way. Always good to check our IQ barometer.

Wow, I got 17 out of 25 right, what an eye opener! I was going through that list thinking I use most of those words on a daily basis. I guess I'm more dependent on spell check than I thought.LOL

I got a 16 out of 25 which they said was 64% or fair. I'm actually surprised I even did that well. I'm a lousy speller and it just keeps getting worse. I have to either use spellcheck or use the dictionary I keep by the computer at all times.

I have not yet taken the test, but something interesting happened when I was doing Mylot on Firefox. I wrote the word "okay" and there was a red line under it. From then on, I have decided to use "alright," instead of "okay." I know that it is a word, but I think that Firefox may be inplying that it is a slang word.

I didn't take the test Annie,But it's funny that you brought up the subject of misspelled words because I notice this phenomenon quite often on various websites and have to wonder what is wrong with these webmasters? Don't they realize that when they misspell words in their copy that it is an immediate turn off !!
There is one site in particular that tries to "Recommand" rather than to "Recommend"
Yeah..I'm about to buy your schtick.Hah!

I am not the best when it comes to spelling but you know what. I don't care. It doesn't bother me to read other peoples postings and see errors, so I don't think it bothers others to see mine. As long as the meaning of the posting gets across that is all that matters. So I am not doing your test, but thanks for posting it here so who ever wants to do it, can. Good luck with your spelling, as it seems to be important to you.

I think I nearly lost my breath for a second there. I got 15!
I love to pride myself on my correct spelling and it is very rare that I mis-spell a word. I should have known better with the liaison one. I saw that recently but never took the time to look up the spelling as I thought liason was correct.
Well this teaches me a lesson for sure. I need to get my spelling together even though i think I have it together!
