what is it about T.V. and fame?

Today, on my way home from work, I happenced upon a conversation on someones mobile telephone. A woman of advancing age was in full conversation with a person unseen. However, at the conclusion of said call she told the, now not inconsiderable, crowd of listeners that she had been contacted by the Jerremy Kyle morning talk show. Such an Americanised self-confesion tv programme always struck me as a bit strange, I just wondered, why do people contact such television programmes, what on earth can they hope to gain by taking part?

Some people just want the fame no matter how they get it.

I guess they are just seeking to be seen and recognised. There are alot of people who will do anything in the world just to get on these types of shows, just to be on television.

What could you hope to gain by eavesdropping to "the conclusion of said call". What a discraceful thing to admit doing. Do you not realize that (nice) people hang up if they inadvertantly overhear another persons conversation.

OH don't start me about this. I don't even think who's worse, if the ones the get the idea for such idiotic shows, or the ones that actually contact them and are willing to go on with their stories. I guess some people will do anything to go on tv, and some are just plain crazy LOL

This is a desire that I cannot understand either. But it does seem to follow that those who seek to broadcast themselves and/or their woes to the world, also speak very loudly in public on their mobile phones. :-)
