Two women served dishwashing liquid instead of wine

Apparently a customer in a New Zealand cafe was served dishwashing liquid instead of mulled wine. She immediately spit it out after a burning sensation. A cafe worker tasted it and did the same. Both were sent to the hospital. "The court heard Sim suffered burns and possible scaring of her throat and esophagus from the chemical mix." What a stupid mistake...to put dishwashing liquid into the mulled wine container. And must have been pretty powerful dishwashing liquid! What a horrible thing to happen.

Wowsers, well at least it sounds like they were doing a good job of sterilizing the dishes. I wonder what they put in the entrees!? Once I heard of a health clinic where the technician hooked up the kidney dialysis machines to bleach instead of Heparin, and apparently a whole bunch of patients were hideously killed. Workers need to pay a bit of attention to what they are doing.

Wow, thats a big different, might be a very powerful dish washing liquid since both were hospitalized I just hope both women are already ok now. Careless often lead to dnagerous situations and often could take lives, a lesson to keep in mind that what ever we do we should be very careful at all times.

Wow!! This is unreal. To think this would actually happen. I would hope this woman took some recourse on this, and the people responsible are held accountable. For me, this is way more than a mistake, and a very cruel thing indeed.

Oh my goodness thats a nightmare. But how could they not notice by the appearance, smell and all of that before taking a sip? I know everyone makes mistakes but the restaurant made a SUPER stupid mistake.

Somebody screwed up big when they put such a caustic substance into a food grade container, and didn't remove the original labelling or relabel it...the product,if it was a dishwashing product, must have been intended for an industrial spec dishwashing machine-this chemical is not suitable for domestic washing by hand-the original container for it would have had hazchem symbols all over it...I think this practise of putting hazardous chemicals into containers where they could be mistakenly thought of as drinkable is Illegal and punishable...

Oh gosh, that is an awful mistake, It could really have hurt them, the cafe can be sued for this for sure. It must have been a new employee that was still not familiar with the the way the cafe ran that did that,
