Do you prefer to get flowers or a plant?

I think bouquets of flowers are beautiful and I love to get them as a gift from my love. The down side is they die and are gone forever before you know it. My hubby buys my plants instead. I love plants and they last indefinitely. How about you? Flowers or plants?

I myself enjoy flowers that you can plant, perenials. To me this is the best gift when it comes to flowers, because you can plant them in the ground and enjoy them every year.

I love perennials too, the gift that keeps on giving.

They both die for me, so I'd prefer the flowers, then I have a whole different bunch of flowers and not one plant that'll croak.

I love the smell of roses I think they have the nicest scent. My dad has lots of rose bushes and I have to admit I like to steal a few now and then...

i prefer the plant.i can place it in my yard and look at it all the time.while cut flowers are still pretty, having 12 floral corpses in a week doesn't say love to me.

I've made it quite clear to my partner that he is never to give me dying flowers as a gift, and if I'm ever in hospital he is to keep dying flowers out of my room. I'm not much of a romantic... which is good, cos neither is my partner, lol. Pot plants though, I love pot plants... especially edible ones. I have lettuces, strawberries, basil and mint on my window sill as well as a pretty blue lupin that seems to be trying to work it's way up to being a small tree *eep*

Yes, I'd much rather have the plant.. especially if it's an outdoor one.. preferably a perennial so we can enjoy it from year to year.. I was never one much for flowers.. they're pretty and all, and I appreciate them but I'm with you! Much better if they are plants! Now if only hubby would realize I never wear jewelry, before chirstmas this year.. Guess I better comment off handedly on that a few times.. We've only been together 34 years.. Hey! The good news is he bought me two dwarf apple trees for my birthday.. course May is more convenient for that than December..

Men can be a little thick at times can't they? But well worth it once they are trained. Apple trees would be a great gift, you can never have too many apples.

I actually prefer a living plant, too. Plus, I am allergic to some flowers and it's safer to get me a plant that is not flowering or does not have scented flowers than to give me say a fragrant bouquet of flowers. The problem that I have is I really only have one place where they get a ton of sun that I can actually place a plant to grow.

I am glad I am not allergic to flowers, I know people who are and it is too bad you can't enjoy all the scents. I don't get much sun in my apartment and it is a challenge to keep plants alive.

WhyWiki, most certainly I prefer to get something I can plant in my yard, and have to enjoy from year to year. I do not do well with house plants though I think I over mother them, or my cat gets in them, or one of the babies knock it over and destroy it. Like you flowers are lovely and so nice to get. I have always told my kids if they are going to buy me flowers to opt for something I can enjoy in my yard.

Aren't cats the most adorable creatures...until you catch them in the plants doing their business!

I also perfer plants. They last longer and if it's a flowering plant that's even better becuase you can have the best of both worlds. I've recently learned how to create more plants from plant clippings (this dosen't work with all plants however) and it's been a great way to share the wealth so to speak. I can put them in new pots and share with my firends and family. Plus, plants are good for the environment!

I have been thinking of clipping a couple of my plants and trying that too as I think I would like more plants on my desk at work I just don't want to invest money on work!

I'll take a plant. Flowers are pretty. And I like them. But flowers die. They just don'tlast very long. A plant has a better chance. Dependingof course on who is caring for it. I don't have much of a green thumb. So plant life may not be much longer than flowers with me,lol.

I like flowers on traditional flower days...Valentines Day and Mother's Day...but I also like plants. My husband is a very smart man and tries to always give me a plant along with flowers on traditional flower days.

I like that idea. Both would be ideal. I will have to implant that thought into hubby's head.
