My Lily of the Valley's have some flowers finally. I have about 20 and maybe 5 or 6 have flowers on them. The weather here has played havok on everythings grwoing season so these are really late for Minnesota. the temps today are 20 degrees below normal. It's only 52 right now at 2 p.m. Is weather making things grow a lot slower for you? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I went to Mexico today, my but it is hot hot hot down here in the Rio Grande Valley. There was a round we used to sing... white choral bells upon a slender stalk - lilies of the valley deck my garden walk oh don't you wish that you could hear them ring, that will only happen when the fairies sing.

I think I recall hearing that years ago somewhere. Maybe my mom sang it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

oh my goodness! I just now read my reply, I think I needed to use some punctuation there. While certain parts of my anatomy are hot, I did not mean to share that information with ya'll. hehe.

Those are so tiny and delicate. They're beautiful. I have daisies and iris' blooming. My petunia's are just starting to bloom. I am going to look for the Lily of the Valley. I think they are pretty. It is still at bit chilly in nothwest Ohio, also. We have one good day. Then we have several days in a row that are cool and damp. What is going on with the weather this year?

I just looked outside to check mine, after seeing your post. I've got only one with flowers. The other ones have only the green part. I was surprised to have them pop up this year, because last year I ripped everything out and tilled and redid my landscaping in the front of my house, where I had the lily of the valley. I was happy to see that they survived.

It's been very cool here, too. When I was in Arizona, we planted stuff in February or March so they'd have a chance to grow before the heat and sun killed them. Here in Ohio, people tell me not to plant till mid-may or June! So I'll be putting in my garden this week. I already have some pretty flowers. I LOVE lillies of the valley! And lilacs, and all the beautiful wildflowers. The Midwest is heaven on earth.

Hi Grandpa Bob I haven't seen lilly of the valleys in years. they are so pretty. Its a shame your weather hasn't played fair with the flowers but now you' will have some bells anyway..Its about eighty five here as I have my box fan on as my bedroom felt stuffy. I wonder if Lily of the Valley would grow here, it would be fun to try anyway.

It's 60 now here. But still cool and cloudy. The sun tried to peek out a little while ago. It sent it's rays down for maybe 5 minutes was all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't think the weather here is creating too much of a problem, but then I don't know what 'normal' is here anyway. I know the sugar snap peas that I planted directly into the ground are coming up and doing great! My lily of the valley have come and gone. The plant itself is still there, of course, but the flowers are mostly gone or dingy and drooping and don't look very happy. We had a couple of warm days in the high 70s and high 50s at night, but it got back down to low 40s again last night. I have no idea what to expect today.

A lot of my stuff is stunted from the cold here. Soon it might get back to normal hopefully. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My Lily of the Valleys are blooming too. We are in the 50's too today. Yesturday it was hot in the 80's. Things are slow in my neck of the woods too. Its almost June and before we know it, we will be complaining its too hot.

Definitely. In the past we have been able to pick cherries the second week in May, but instead they are just hard green little things still. I have a rosebush that normally would have bloomed completely out by now, and it is just beginning. I hope if it must be cool, it will be a little cool this summer.

I am worried about my two apple trees as well. it's been too cold for the bees and butterflies to be around to pollinate them. the flowers I have to attract them also haven't bloomed even. Oh well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That is great. It is finally starting to warm up outside and stay warm for the flowers to bloom well. The sun is staying out and heating up alot better now also. It is late for Indiana also. It has been in the 80's for the last two days here. We would love to go swimming in our pool but that water will take many days to heat up with the cool weather we have had for several days before now.

Glad to hear they have finally flowered AGB! The weather here has been much better than usual and things are growing faster than normal - how weird is that? Niamhs potatoes are much higher than they would normally be! xxxx

Let's get your 52 and our 90 and compromise and we will have a beautiful temperature. We are not having a hard time getting things to grow on time down here, the only problem the farmers might have is not enough rain.

Lovely! I hope mine bloom soon, but our weather has been all over the place, too. Things are blooming early, growing taller, and just generally acting strange. This is one of my favorite plants.

They are beautiful. They would have been opened up a few weeks ago normally. I have at least a dozen that aren't even showing blossoms yet. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Everything seems to be growing okay around here, but the weather has been either hot or humid. I have to make sure I water everything in the evening; otherwise, I don't think they would grow.
