Do you believe that boys are immature when it comes to learning, than a girl? |
|
My son's teacher told me that boys tend to be immature when it comes to them catching on in school. She says that girls catch on faster.. What do you think... Immature in this case meaning, that boys are not catching onto their school work as a girl would.. Or any type of learning in school. It takes them a little longer to learn as faster..

3. jonesy123 (1856) | 5 months ago | I don't think it's immaturity but rather a greater amount of energy boys seem to have. If they don't have an outlet to get rid of all that bottled up energy they have less patience to sit still, listen, and learn. Our elementary school offers frequent times to run, dance, and jump. It seems to keep misbehavior to a minimum. In fact, I have noticed that girls are more often reprimanded for excessive talking (aren't we all just chatterboxes, lol) than boys are for fidgeting. If they get the time to burn off their energy they will sit still, listen, and learn, just as the girls.

4. mrsfrodotata (1414) | 5 months ago | I don't believe that at all acctually. I have two little girls and one little boy. My 7 year old who is in school now is very very smart, but she is ADHD so it is usually harder to get her to focus and complete her school work. My 4 year old is so intelectual. She is a puzzle doer. Very Artsy and already recognizes her letters as well as being able to write them. My 3 year old can count to ten and knows his ABCs already. So I think that they are all pretty much at the same stages for their age. Like my 7 year old caught onto the alphabet at three as well as my middle daughter and now my three year old. Does that make sense. It is like they are all catching onto the things they need to at the same age. My 7 year old did at three my 4 year old did at three and now my son is at three. I don't think it has anything to do with gender. I personally believe it has to do with the enviroment they are in. I studied child psychology and the nurture nature theory and I strongly believe in it.

5. checapricorn (7403) | 5 months ago | I agree but some true to all. Girls tend to be more responsible and focus at a young age so they learn fast and catch up lesson fast. ON the other hand, boys tend to be more on manual, so when it comes to listening, I guess, they have no patience for that which made them slow in catching lessons! But, As I have said, it's not true to all!

cream97 (4494) | 5 months ago | Yes, that is what she should have said... Using the word immature made it seem like boys are slow in learning and have some kind of handicap..

7. mentalward (1788) | 5 months ago | Girls mature faster than boys do, but I'm not sure about the learning side of it. I really haven't noticed it. I have two sons, and when they were young they seemed to do just fine in school. None of their teachers every talked to me about their learning abilities. I talked to one son's teachers quite a lot through the years, but only because he had ADHD. They never mentioned that he was slower than girls. Just the opposite, actually. Even though he seemed to not be paying attention, when asked a question he would always have the correct answer. Maybe it's just a matter of these children, personally. Maybe the girls in his class are catching on faster, just by coincidence.

| 8. mentalmum (56) | 5 months ago | Hey Cream., well i tend to agree with this, i have a son who is 5 and a daughter who is 4, she is by far quicker at learning than my son is. Everything from getting dressed to writing her name comes so easily to her, he just sits there, waiting to be helped to put his clothes/shoes on, you have to encourage him to write/draw/paint.. she seems to take the initiative herself to do things. For example if she is up early in the morning, she will help herself to a yogurt or some fruit... if he is up early he will sit hungry until i appear! My older son who is now 17 was the same, i thought at the time he was just lazy.. but it seems to be a 'boy thing'!!

cream97 (4494) | 5 months ago | Yes, that sounds like my son, he will wait on me to do for him. He is 6 years old... Since hearing your story, I feel somewhat better to know that I am not in this alone.. I guess that is how some boys are..

10. Hatley (12706) | 5 months ago | It has been proved that boys mature slower than girls do so it stands to reason that they would learn a little slower than girls do. they do' better in math than girls but are slower in english than the girls.
