Potty training

Well, the potty chairs at walmart say 18month+ so i guess you could start then. it all depends on your child though. some kids are ready then, some might not be ready till 2 or 3. you could get a potty chair and see what she does. don't push the issue. if she isn't ready, wait a few months and maybe try again. kids seem to be training later these days so don't stress about it.

The best time to start potty training is when your baby is showing signs that she's ready for it. If she doesn't like being in a wet diaper, she's ready to learn. You should get a potty chair and let her get used to having it around, to sitting on it and climbing on it without having to*use* it. Start talking to her about what it's for and how big girls use the potty and then take your cues from here. When my kids were little I had friends who rushed to potty train and bottle break and both they and their babies were miserable at times. I had no timetable and didn't want to be first so my kids had it easier. I used to think of it this way, by the time they start school, they'll be using the bathroom and drinking from a cup so why race to get them there?

The standard wisdom says 2 years old. We started a bit earlier. My daughter was 18 months old. But she was going around yelling "No more Diapey" I suggest taking cues from your baby.

It is best to watch for signs that she is ready. If she is uncomfortable in a wet or dirty diaper, lets you know when she needs a change, or expresses desire to try, she is probably ready. Starting before she is ready will make it harder and more stressful for both of you. Some children are ready by 18 months, but most are not until closer to 2 years. You can let her see you use the bathroom, talk to her about it, and introduce her to it and see if she starts to show interest.

It totally depends on the child my eldest wasnt ready until over 2 and half years my youngest just turned 2 and if the taking her nappy off and peeing in her bed is anything to go by then she isnt ready yet either lol!!!

Im all for making these big life changing moments as easy as possible not just for me but to make it less stressful for my children too so I wait until they are ready and they all will get there in the end x

We bought my daughter a gorgeous potty when she was about 6 months - i couldn't resist. As she got older she started playing with it, sitting on it, flushing it & things like that.

She's just gone 2 but isn't trained yet - she doesn't seem to like the idea of going to do her business unless she has a nappy on, although she'll quite happily sit on the big toilet.

Kids will let you know when they're ready, i think from about 18 months is a good time to start introducing them to the potty or toilet but you don't want to push it or they'll get scared & not go, which will only make it harder & take longer!

You can get her a potty, let her get used to it herself & then she'll let you know when she's ready to take the next step. I have twin nieces - the older but less advanced one is already toilet trained (they'll be 3 in a couple of weeks) but the other one, although more advanced, is always having accidents in her pants or the bed. There's not a lot more you can do really - just persist with it but not until they have shown you they're interested which will come in it's own time!

My daughter is 16 now and it has been a very long time since we have been through the potty training stages. I always thought when they were old enough to start taking off their own diaper on their own, then they are old enough to sit on a potty. My daughter used to like to sit on her potty even before I started to train her. she startyed taking off her diaper when she felt like it also. I knew right then it was time to show her what that potty was to be used for.
