What is your favourite "cheesy" song? |
| |
| I'm in the process of burning some audio cd's, and have decided to make one with ultimately cheesy music. You know the songs I'm talking about... they are songs that pretty much everyone knows, and a lot of us actually LIKE them, but overall, they are really cheesy. What is your favourite cheesy song? Are there any others you could recommend I add to my cd? Here are some examples of what I have so far: "I will survive" - Gloria Gaynor "Who let the dogs out" - Baha Men "Canadian Idiot" - Weird Al "It's not unusual" - Tom Jones "I'm too sexy" - Right Said Fred | | Cheesy Music | | | | |

| | The ones you mentioned are better than the only one I can think of. I always kind of liked the theme from "The Love Boat." I know, it's a little weird, but I don't think of a few of the ones you mentioned as cheesy. But, that's just my opinion. Good luck. | | | | | | |

| | Well if she can submit The Love Boat theme, then I've got a few that I'd like to submit (and some are actually based from real songs!) Friends theme (actual song) M*A*S*H theme (actual song) Miami Vice theme (I think this may have been an actual song) Will those do you good? | | | |

| | The super cheesy songs ALWAYS get stuck in my head, too! LOL! Remember that song Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield? Why did it just come into my mind after all of these years? This discussion, that why! LOL! | | | |

| | Oh my gawd! I can just hear it in my head! I found a great site with 80s song titles...there were so many! Your choice is pushing everything else outta my head...and now I'm thinking of 867-5309 by Tommy Tutone (I think that's who did it!)--my best friend's name is Jenny and of course that was her ring tone for a while! Time to exit and rip my eyes off (or listen to some good hard Metallica!) | | | |

I've got a jingle going through my head...the Oscar Mayer Bologna song. I'm sure another will come to replace that shortly though! (it's replaced the other one!)

| | It was a song from the musical broadway "hair" all of which is the ultimate annoying music. I think andy williams and probably a bunch of others did it as well. Another title for it goes "good morning starshine, the earth says hello." If you haven't heard it, you have lucky ears. | | | |

| | The beer song I've seen before on a "funwall" post on facebook. It is definitely giggle-worthy. As for the Bobby McFerrin tune... that one drives me bonkers. It was "overplayed" when it first came out (just like "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves). Some friends I knew changed the words up a bit... "You wear a big bandage around your head. You have a spot that looks kinda red. But don't worry... eat curry". **watching star rating plummet** | | | |

| | I'm so disappointed the one that just made me ROLL was a song about a son getting cause masterbating. His father walked in on him. I've been trying and I can't find it again. GGRR That's the one that I really wanted you to hear too. FYI: I just love the beer song, its a great thing at a party! | | | |

| | How about The Safety Dance by Men at Work? It's Raining Men by the Weather Girls. Did anyone mention Addicted to Love by Robert Palmer? And although I consider nothing done by him to be cheesy, how about Wild World by my favorite, my Cat Stevens? I'll see what else I can come up with.... | | | | | | |

| | How 'bout Fred Schneider (think B52's) on his own first (and maybe only?) album, extremely rare, and no... no one can have it, I listen to it 5 times a year or more, haha. "It's Time To Kiss" what a number, just crank Fred up LOUD and the goosebumps take care of themselves. "Cut The Concrete" is another. - altho, sorry, now that I know what you meant by Cheesy, CG, these likely don't apply either. Just good goosebump material that a few previous posts that mentioned the likes of Van Morrison, Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman (i like Van Halen's version too) and the like. These caught my eye as I was browsin'. And scorpio, I remember Tommy Tutone, and there was another similar type group around the same time period, and just can't think of them.. And I thought Turning Japanese was by Wang Chung?? | | | |

| | Fred's a character...I never knew that he released a solo career, even if for an instant! But then look at where he's from--the same music scent that spawned REM! When was his album released..before or after Yoko's? Now she's a BAD ... I wouldn't even call her a singer! | | | |

| | Released in 1991. Has number he did in 84 too tho, i guess when he was playing around in his spare time on his own. Has Kate Pierson as one of the backup vocals (of course, who else??) It is one incredible CD. It's an ADD. Here's the line up: Monster - guess what that ones about, haha Cut The Concrete - i so wish you could hear this Summer In Hell Orbit I'm Gonna Haunt You It's Time To Kiss - ya just gotta hear this number, i wonder if it is a You Tuber, highly unlikely, i have no high-speed so You Tubes are long and tedious, altho i did wait to listen to Glen Hansard? when Skinny suggested he reminded her of Van Morrison - i listened to Into The Mystic, he's very good but no Van - remember The Story of Them? He was just getting going. Amazing stuff....I know I have a few years on ya though.. This Planets A Mess Wave Boonga (The New Jersey Caveman) - a cheesy number, totally. Mostly just Boonga Boonga Boon-GA, Boonga Boonga Boon-GA all through. I usually nuke it after Wave. fyi: Reprise bar code small 0 7599-26592-2 small 2 here's the first few lines of Monster haha I saw it officer, it looked prehistoric.... There's a Monster in my pants And it does a nasty dance When it moves in and out Everybody starts to shout! Monster, ahhhh, Monster ahhhh Get outta here monster! Monster! Monster! Get outta here monster There's a monster in my pants And it does a naughty dance! When it sees the light of day You can hear people say Oh no a monster! Oh no a monster! Oh no oh no oh no a giant monster! Monster! Monster! Oh no a giant monster Shut the window, bolt the door! Don't wanna se that monster no more There's a monster in my pants And it does a modern dance When it comes into a room People hit with a broom! Take that monster! Take it! Take it! Take that you awful thing etc etc hee hee, does this sound like Fred or what?? lol | | | |

| | I found Monster (the video) on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpgWw1g-PD0 That's SUCH a campy video! I wonder when he actually wrote the song--you know if it wasn't for Love Shack's HUGE success it would have never had a movie made! I love when they're wearing the giant naked butts right before the lizard/dragon does. I think when Fred's Monster (first green then white with red (but what on earth is sticking out of the top? I can only imagine!). Now THAT is definitely a cheesy song...I'll keep looking to see if there's any others from that album! Thanks for sharing it! | | | |

| | My man wrote a song titled (aptly enough) Coconuts...I think one of the lines goes like this: "She has lovely coconuts, she takes them everywhere" (or something, I haven't heard the song for years!) and I was one of the few people he's told the lyrics to that actually understood what it meant! | | | |

I wrote a tune called "Is She Really Red?" for them, the lyrics are rated XXX, but it's all in fun! :)
