Do you have your kids on a schedule?

I and my kids have a schedule to follow. During the school days, no television. Watching movies are done during the weekends - friday, saturday. Bedtime for kids at 8 PM, and wake up at 5 a.m for prayer, Bible Reading, and Devotion. Then we have breakfast, preparation for school and for work. It's good to have a schedule than just go with the flow.

We don't really have much of a schedule. We have typical breakfast, lunch, and dinner times, but we don't stick to it like clockwork. I try to have them in bed at a decent hour. The little ones go up around 8pm or else they're too cranky. The 5 year olds don't stay up much past 9pm (8 on school nights), and the oldest goes around 9 or 10. But it's all a general time frame, not strict routine to stick to.

My kids were pretty much on a schedule. I believe that kids do better when on one. They are happier too. But it can be fixable when there is a need to be. With a schedule I don't think that there is the bed time struggle that can sometimes happen and cause a lot of problems. Beside it prepares them for the future when life has to keep to schedules lie with school and work.

My son has a schedule during the school year of when he goes to bed and when he gets up. I am pretty lax about it during the summer months though. My daughter does not really have a schedule. She goes to bed and gets up when she wants to pretty much. She is only 17 months though, so most nights she is in bed by 7:30pm.

Me and my boyz have been on a schedule ever since they were born. Even in the hospital. As they grow so their schedule changes. Having an autistic son, he craves it! Having them on schedules, gives them an idea of what to expect during the day and then there is no fighting ( most of the time) as to what comes next during the day. It makes for happy and healthy kids and a happy stress free mom! ( most of the time) LOL

My children are almost 4 years old and 5 months...they are not on a schedule as of right now but my oldest starts an all day pre-school this fall and I would like to get him on a schedule. I should actually probably start now so that he gets used to it before the end of August. What exactly is a good schedule to keep your kids on? What actually works?
