Parking in handicapped spots without a need or even a handicap Placard

I went to the Art Museum yesterday.(1) I have been there in the past, but I keep forgetting that the wheelchair accessible ramp is in the back. As I pull up to the museum, near to the front, there is a rather full parking lot. People are pulling slowly around like vultures waiting for a spot.
There is another parking lot farther north. I go to that one and see some handicapped parking spots. Ah, what luck. I pull in and park. Immediately afterwards a man in a very nice rag-top corvette pulls in next to me. He gets up. Both he and his friend get out. They walk to the Museum with no apparent reason for distress or difficulty. Looking at their car.. no handicapped plate. No handicapped placard.
We go inside and my wife informs the person at the front door that someone has parked in appropriately. The person doesn't seem to even know who to contact about such a thing. More importantly, they didn't seem to care, either.
I find this highly rude. There are people who have real disabilities who need those spots. In fact, when we got the placard which allows us to park in handicapped spots I was of a mind that we'd use it on days which were especially difficult. (Otherwise trying to leave a spot free for other people who need it more.)
I had some bad ideas. Letting the air out of the guy's tire. Keying the door. Even just unscrewing their license plate. But, I was a nice good grown-up and didn't do any of that. I did, however, take a picture of the car and I'm just immature enough to post it. :)

Well I too am disabled and have had a handicaped plate on my car for over 22 years. I too have seen people park in these spots that did not have a plate or a placecard, nor looked disabled. But then I too became disabled at the age of 34 and at times on the outware appearance to others I too did not look disabled, and was advised that I should not park in these spots, until I told the security guards to look at my plates. There are some people that do have disabilities that others can not always see. There are days that you can tell I am disabled and day you can not. I have my good days and my bad days.

And this is exactly why these people get away with it. I am not convinced that there are so many people without apparent disability which need the plates as I have seen. I suspect people borrow their grandparents' car or plaque and then just use it for themselves.

Thanks for best response, I think you are right that people do borrow other peoples placecards and use them when they should not. Here in Arkansas, we have a sticker on our licence stating we are disabled before we can recieve these plates or placecards, this started this year, I hope they will staet checking these licences when people park in these spaces.

I agree with you and I saw something like that before such an arrogant guy, I said hey you should not park there you are not disabled and the ticket is mor than three hundred dollars, so what you doing? He said, I really do not care I pay the ticket! Pffffffff to those people!

Ive seen a lot of people do that since one of my jobs is to go out and get carages. Most of the people seem perfectly fine that park in handicap spaces and dont seem to be in need of a handicap space. But there is a site where you can report them just give them there license plate number and they will take care of it I forgot the site but I saw it on the news a few months ago.

That is rude. There are people out there with real handicaps who cannot walk these distances, but some just don't care. I also believe that some people have those handicap stickers that don't really deserve them. Some people are just too lazy to walk a few extra feet.
Often times I do not take the closest available spot because I am perfectly capable of walking, and don't mind to do so. The only times I will look for a closer spot is if it is raining or very cold and my children are with me. Then it is more for their benefit than my own.
