We recycle, we reuse plastic and paper grocery bags and have the cloth bags too. We are getting ready to build a rain bucket that will sit below the gutter and collect rain water to use to water our garden and indoor plants. We already collect rainwater this is just the next step we will have one in the back and one in the front of the house. We garden and grow veggies and flowers and fruit. We use enviromently conscious prducts for cleaning. We use steam and vinegar and baking soda a lot to clean with. What do you do to live green?

I try and avoid buying over packaged goods to start with, which reduces what needs to be recycled. I recycle all plastic and metal, and paper and cloth get recycled at home.
We grow as much of our own food as possible, and keep rabbits and chickens. Where I have to buy food, I try to shop locally and bear in mind the food miles.
I try to make every trip in the car as worthwhile as possible by keeping a list of errands that need running and planning my journeys.
I try not to fly.
We heat using wood, which we grow ourselves.
I buy secondhand where possible, or not at all if I can do without. I rarely throw anything away, preferring to reuse or donate to someone who can use it.
We use minimal water as we have a compost toilet. We recycle all grey water from the bath and kitchen on the garden. I do not use chemicals in my kitchen sink or washing machine.
I use cloth nappies and washable san-pro.
My new house will be powered with a combination of solar and wind turbines.
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head!

If I were able to buy some land and build a house I would go solar panels and wind power also and have well water. I would have a big garden and I would raise food (chickens, a hog a year, and a calf a year).

In Guelph we have a wonderul recycling program that allows us to compost and have it taken away, even if we don't have compost piles of our own. Compostable garbage is sorted into a diferent coloured bag, so it can go ack into the earth rom where it came, and not end up in a landfill with a bunch o things that won't biodegrate.

We recycle, just whatever they will take in the bin we put out at the curb. I've switched over most of the house to the flourescent lights that use about 1/4 the electricity. I try not to waste water while washing my hands, but I still take long showers. I'd like to get an electric or hybrid car, but I really can't afford it right now. The garden idea has appealed to me too but I haven't taken the time to start it up.

Oh I forgot we did the flourescent bulbs in most of ours too and what a difference it has made. Our lightbulbs used to burn out like crazy now they do not.
