Woman Dies in Hospital Waiting Room |
| |
| I was appalled when I heard this story on last night's news! But then I thought, it is not surprising that something like a woman collapsing and falling to her death while in a hospital waiting room was bound to happen eventually. This story brought back memories of an incident that happened to my daughter some months ago which I posted a discussion on. She was hemorhaging while sitting in a hospital waiting room and not being given any attention. She had to leave one hospital and go to another to finally get some help. With the state of health care being so poor, it is little wonder that many people, like myself, have lost faith in the system. I can't help but think that the life of this poor woman might have been saved if she had been given the proper attention rather than just left there and ignored. The fact that there were so many people all around her who did nothing to help this woman makes it all the more shameful. Have you or someone you know had a disastrous episode in a hospital waiting room? You can see the video of this poor woman's ordeal here: http://www.whiotv.com/video/16758910/index.html | | | | | |

| | hi worldwise1 a big apathy. people at large are not humane any more. and it so happening in any hospital is all the more pathetic. i think it is common in poorer countries and not so common in advanced countries. but the life is a life and it has to be protected. people do not realise that if we an not give life we do not have a right to take a life away . i am sorry for your daughter too. | | | | | | |

| | I agree totally with the comment that people are no lomger humane - that just about sums up what society has become, sadly. My thoughts are that society in general, is under collossal presure. Pressure throughout our entire lives to survive and just 'get by. I blame the politicians for this. Governments just take, and take, and take. Not content with stealing money from our pay packets (I don't recall giving anyone permission to take money from my pay - if I did it, I would be arrested as a thief), governments then continue to suck us dry with a vast array of stealth taxation. All of this of course is done without accountability to us - the source of the funding. Combine the theft of our money with the utter arrogance with which governments implement laws, restrictions, prohibitions, and generally try to play God, ... and, is it any wonder why so many people are discontent, disfunctional, resentfull, repressed and angry ? Society is now scared to show its human side - if you try to help someone up, and they slip and break their leg, you are at risk of being sued by them. So, no-one wants to intervene any more, even to help others. This is one of the sadest things I have written. It would be lovely to convey a story of gallantry and humane caring and help, but the tragedy is that the reports of all the lovely things in this world don't seem to be reported by the media - perhaps its because nice things are diminishing. Having seen that poor lady fall and die, in that footage, brings tears. What the hell is going on in this world? | | | |

| | I thought this story was horrible. To make matters worse, hospital staff tried to lie and cover it up. Simply deplorable. To me that means they were full aware of the situation. I don't understand why they didn't care about this person's life. | | | | | | |

| | Contrary to popular belief, cbreeze, people are still very much wrapped up in their own worlds, and giving little thought to others. | | | |

| | That is horrible to watch. I can not believe that that man just walked by her and left her there. I have known for a long time the hospitals were getting bad. You have people who go there for nothing more than a cold because of lack of insurance. I hear that they are cracking down on that though. Not sure if there is any truth to it. I once was in there for several hours waiting on a doctor to see my husband who was having seizures. I looked several times in the hallway and there were nurses and doctors just standing around visiting and laughing. My step dad went for chest pains and had to sit for hours. It is scary to know that some places he could lay in the floor and die. | | | | | | |

| | This isn't the first time something like this has happened. I remember a discussion a while back about a woman who bled to death in the waiting room. I haven't ever gone to the hospital for myself and my husband is usually throwing up when I take him so they see him pretty quick. Its awful how hospitals allow things like that to happen. It just ain't right. | | | | | | |

| | These conditions were painfully brought home to me, Aurone, when my daughter went through her nightmare experience and that is why my opinion of doctors and hospitals plunged even lower than it had previously been. I'm not saying that I won't ever need their services, but I sure hope I won't have to suffer like many people are now doing. | | | |

| | That is awful. I hope her family sues this hospital for allowing this to happen. Of course I had a uncle awhile back because of the hospital in my town gave him the wrong medication which was awful. My aunt is sueing the hospital here. Which I don't blame her one bit. The hospital in my town is terrible. I go out of town myself whenever I have needed help. Espically after the first time that my body had problems with a medicaition on was on at the time and I couldn't walk. I had to have a wheelchair just to get in. They sent me home and told me that I needed to contact my doctor out of town. | | | | | | |

| | Life is so precious and to lose one is always painful. We have a long way to go before we can adequately take care of everyone and I don't just mean health care but livelihood and housing as well. In many countries the problem is food and we see emaciated faces with distended bellies. What is to be done? | | | | | | |

| | The brunt of the responsibility, underdogtoo, should lie with the governments. Since they are so intent upon dictating every facet of our lives they should be able to come up with workable solutions to these problems. | | | |

| | This story hits close to home for me. My husband was just in the ER the other day because he was having a really hard time breathing. With every breath he was taking he felt like his chest was about to cave in. So we took him to the ER. You would think that someone who's having a hard time breathing and who you can hear wheezing for air would get prompt care. NOPE. They made him wait in the waiting rom for almost 2 hours, finally my husband just up and left without even being seen by a doctor. We did get him looked at by a regular doctor, turns out he's got a severe sinus infection topped off with really bad allergies. The reason he started getting short of breath is there was a high pollen count that day and he'd been running in the park with our son for an hour. Lucky for him it wasn't anything serious or he might have died waiting on just being seen. | | | | | | |

| | I'm glad that your husband is alright, devilsangel. The theory has also been put forth that the government is guilty of spraying something into the atmosphere that is making people sick. Now, where have I heard that before? Oh, yes, it really did happen in the past. | | | |
