I have a problem with my kids when it comes to eating vegetables. They are not eating it. Most often when I put vegetables on their lunch, it will return home untouch. they preferred to go hungry, not eating for the day, if you will feed them with vegetables.
What can you suggest? How would I let them eat vegetables? Is there any way of cooking vegetables that the kids really like to eat?
I am waiting for your suggestions. thank you.

Them not eating vegetables at school you really can't work on but I know that one thing I've learned while working with kids is to provide the vegetables first and give them the foods they really like a lot a few minutes after you give them their veggies. It works well if they're pretty hungry because they're more willing to eat what is on their plate while hungry than to wait for what they really want. Also, giving them refills on drinks during dinner shouldn't happen right away. If you wait until after they've eaten more food on their plate the drinks won't fill them up.

I really hate to say it but your kids are just manipulating you so they don't have to eat their vegetables and so they can eat the food they want to eat. Every time they show a little bit of tears and you get frustrated and give in they know that all they have to do is do it again and you'll give in. They won't starve if they don't eat a complete meal at dinner time, they won't starve if they only eat a few things at dinner and nothing else. Giving in all the time is only setting you up for trouble.

Well, it only ends up into crying. I tried that but I feel pity with my kids in tears because they don;t like the food I serve and they are really hungry. I don't want to see them in tears because they don't like the food. that's why I am trying my best to know the ways on how to feed them in a way that they will like the food I served.

Hide veggies in your kid's favorite foods. Deceptively Delicious is a cookbook that tells you how. Veggies go under cover in there even in cookies.

Lots of these meals are great for adults too, as the veggie/fruit purees replace some fattening ingredients like oil. Many of us grown ups don't get our veggies either.

You could check out that Jessica Seinfeld book. I forgot the name of it, but it should be in the library. it's got all sorts of recipies for disguisng recipies that contain vegetables. I might check out that book also, becaue i'm sure making chocolate chip cookies with chick pes is going to be less fatttening than the traditional recipie.

The name of the book is Deceptively Delicious and my friend swears by it. There is another book about pureeing (sp?) vegetables that came out before Jessica's that another friend of mine says is better but, unfortunately, I can't remember the name of it.

It sounds like you have to play a little game called hide and seek. My mom did this to me when I didn't eat my veggies as a child. She would bake the vegetables in with the food. The easiest way to do it is by mixing it with meat. The flavor of the meat will sometimes overpower the veggies. If not you can puree the vegetables and then serve it as a sauce on top of the meat. Or you can blend fruits and veggies into drinks and smoothies.

Good idea!!! maybe I should try that. I think they would eat that if I will mixed it with the meat and cook it in a tasty way. thanks for giving me this idea of making the veggies into puree and make it as toppings to the meat. lol
good one. Thanks for sharing.

My son has the same problem. Whenever I cook I have to make a separate dish. Worst still, my hubby likes vegetables a lot. Can you imagine how difficult it is? I have to cook different dishes to please them? May be you can try this method. First, boil the vegetables of your choice eg. tomato, carrot, etc. Add a little salt and pepper. If you like add a little meat or prawns to make itu tasty. Put them in a blender and blend until it forms a gravy. Then you can pour the gravy onto the boil potatoes or grill meat...

No,. it doen'st work that way. Telling them about vefetables stories? has no effect.
Maybe cooking their food with vegetables prepared in disguising way would help. I will still study how.
Thanks for the reply.

I saw a show a couple of months ago that featured a woman who had figured out how to puree vegetables and use them in her cooking so that her children got vegetables without actually knowing it. I do not remember her name, but she had a cookbook out explaining how she did it and with lots of recipes.

Hi
If you give vegetables as such and insist the children to eat them, they won't accept. You can mix up the finely choped vegetables with other food, for example rice or fried rice, noodles etc. When you prepare this you can add a variety of chopped vegitables in it. If they like sandwitch or burger, you can include vegetables with other fillings. Prepare side dishes with vegetables and add their favourite flavour. In our place we eat rice as the main food and there should be a few side dishes and most of the ingredients of these dishes are veg. If you prepare omlet or scrambled egg, you can add finely chopped onions, tomato, capsicum etc..

I've already tried that many times to mix vegetable with the food they like but they will put away the vegetables and eat only the things that they like. Excample, chicken meat, or beef.. they will put away the vegetables and eat the meat. Now a days, we can not buy meat as often because it is too expensive. If I put fish they are not eating much also maybe because they always it those almost every meal. If I put vegetables on the burger too, they will put away the vegetables. But I will keep on trying to find ways how to let them eat vegetables,. Maybe it is just on the way how I prepare it.
Thanks for the ideas.

Just don't overcook them. Also I suggest that you involve your kids in making your meals so they would be able to appreciate more the vegetables you serve them. I don't know if this still exists but there is such a thing as a chocolate carrot wherein chocolate has carrot bits in it. If that doesn't work you could still go for the carrot cake. It's good to teach kids to eat veggies while they're still young so that they'll grow healthy.

That's right!! while they are yet young I want to let them realize that vegetables are better than meat.
Thanks for the response.
