There was this weedy looking plant with a huge ball at the top, little bit of yellow sticking out so I let it grow. I'm glad I did! Seems that one of my birds must've dropped a seed this winter from the feeder and gave me this beautiful sunflower! Click on the picture, take a look and make a comment if you like. I've never had my very own sunflower before--and as a thank-you gift!

What a neat surprise! I don't see a picture, though. I got a similar surprise last week. I thought this particular thing was a weed but something told me to leave it alone. Now I've got the prettiest coral colored flowers in my front yard. Still have no idea what it is. I need to make a discussion out of it with the picture to see if anyone can help me.

I had to post it separately because although I uploaded it, it didn't make it to the final posting! I was going to pull it but I always like to see what things are first--I have "weeds" all over my garden that are absolutely gorgeous, among my other flowers. I hope you do post a picture, I'd like to see those coral flowers!

I got the same thing in my vegetable garden, of course I am letting it grow there. I also have one stalk of corn growing right beside my steps outside, I think that one is kinda funny, but I am sure the birds 'planted' it as well and I will continue to let it grow as well. When your sunflower gets big , you will be able to harvest some seeds to plant more. The birds will also come back and get seeds from your flower too !

I'm glad you've had a sunflower. They're lovely and cheerful Mine have been a complete disaster this year. I intended to grow loads so that I could save the seed heads for the chickens in the winter, but I planted three whole trays of them and have only two flowers to show for it. So much for my good intentions!

I've had seeds that didn't come up but surprised me the next year, maybe yours will do the same!
