I am new to this list and I would like to know if anyone out there can help me with my older cats who throw up all the time. I swear I am cleaning the carpet one inch at a time. We have them on sensitive diets and give hair ball gel everyother day. Both cats are short hair and are allowed outside at our ranch. Please help if you can. I would rather use natural products.

First of all, take them to the vet to rule out some sort of illness. If they check out OK, then perhaps they are allergic to their food. I feed our 4 cats only canned food, Wellness or Natural Balance brands. My cats eat twice a day; breakfast and dinner. They eat about 3 ounces each meal. They might be eating something outside that doesn't agree with them. Our cats are inside only, so I have no thoughts for you there. Good luck. Give them a snurggle for me.

They may be eating something outside. Can you keep them inside exclusively? For food look for the high end foods made from real meat without all the fillers. Feed them several small meals a day. If they eat dry food there are special feeders that are on timers. like light timers. They have several compartments for food. They open at preset times, according to how you program it.

My brother in laws cat was throwing up a lot. he was instructed to feed it 1/3 cup of cat food at a time. This seems to make a difference with the amount of throwing up that they do. You may have to totally change what they are eating though. I would consult with your vet.

Im afraid i dont have any answers for you. I have questions myself. I have 3 cats. Kitty (mama) and her two kittens (now grown). Bubba has thrown up but i think that is because he pigged out. The throw up was a huge amount. But Sissy throws up all the time. She stsrted this when she was about 6mo. old. When i see her eating a lot i tell her "dont eat too much sister." I kept their food dishes on a flat from the store in case she throws up right there. That has happen before. I dont clean it up right away either. Sounds kind of gross but they sometimes eat it. After all it was only in her belly a few minutes. I clean it if its been there at least an hour. I have seen her throw up usually the can food but she has also thrown up the dry food. Other than that she seems totaly healthy.

It seems to help mine if i feed only dry food and don't put out much at a time. you can also add marbles to their dish so they can eat as fast. I think with more than one cat they eat fast so the other cats can't get any. I'm open to any other suggestions.

The problem with the marbles is Bubba would probably eat them too. But i havent noticed them trying to hog all the food for self. The canned food i have is 6oz. cans i split between the 3 cats. When they walk away there is still food in the dish they came back and eat throughtout the day. Bubba and Sissy eat from a double dish together since they were kittens. Kitty eats from her own dish which she had since she was a kitten. She being their mom will not eat with them. She will sit back and allow them to eat it all.S acrificing mom there. But Bubba and Sissy do not fight over the food.

Hi savypat, I have a cat who is approximately 10 years old and she does that sometimes. I think it could be the food she eats. I don't let her outside because our neighbors have dogs and they try to get her, but the last time she got out she was doing the whole grass eating thing. I have tried different foods, and haven't really seen any difference with any particular one. Sometimes I wonder if it might be their ages.

we have found tht putting their dry food on a small flat plate has helped. Cats tend to gulp their food.
