How well does your vacuum work? I HATE mine.

It blows more stuff around than it picks up. We have spent $60-80 every other year or so on different vacuums. None of which lasted long or worked well. What kind of vacuum do you use? How much did it cost and was it worth it?

The best vacuum I've ever bought is a 12-amp Eureka ez-kleen Stick. (I have hardwood floors, and it's a pain in the tail to sweep the whole house!) I wrote down everything I wanted in a vac before I went shopping. I compared the box to my list, and it fit everything I'd written, with a few bonuses! I only paid $30 for this little thing, and it's the best $30 I've spent on any appliance. Bagless, collapsible handle, easy-roll cord, and plenty of power to suck up all the cat hair and mud bits. I love it!

Oh, yeah--I've had it for 3 years, I use it 1-2x a week, and it still picks up as well as it ever did.

Maybe you should try one of those pricier models. I've heard about a Kirby Vacuum which is supposed to be good and then there are those expensive Dyson models. My wife tends to get annoyed with our vacuums, perhaps because I stay on the cheap side when I buy them. Perhaps I should listen to my own advice.

we have an Oreck that we are very happy with. It picks up dog hair which is my main problem.

Ours is a Bissell Power Trak. I have yet to have a problem with it. It picks up really well and it even has a little brush you can attach to the hose to do the carpet on the stairs. That really comes in handy with the dogs coming in through the garage and going downstairs to their room.

I always used to buy a cheap one as well, and would end up needing to replace it within a year. Recenlty I bought a hoover at a garage sale for $5. It works great! It is regularly $100 at Walmart.

I absolutely hate my vacuum. I feel like I have to empty it each time I want to use it if I expect it to pick up any dirt at all. It's one of those goofy light weight ones that even my 6 year old can push around. And it doesn't have any attachments so vacumming along the baseboards is out which is really where the dirt and dust tend to accumulate. I could really use a good vacuum but don't want to spend the hundreds of dollars on one. I do have one of those push sweepers from the 70's. It picks up better than my vacuum I think!
