CSI star says goodbye. now it will not just lose the a star or cast but CSI is losing its main man. i saw it on yahoo news. William said "My biggest problem with leaving the show at any point isn't leaving Grissom," said Petersen, whose previous leave of absence came when he took five weeks off to do theater in Rhode Island. "I'm an actor, it's time to do other things. "[The hard part will be saying goodbye] to the cast and crew. [So] I'm going to stay as involved as I'm allowed to be throughout the remainder of this show. Until they turn off all the lights.". this is another blow to all the CSI LAS VEGAS fans. what are your views about this? what can you say? read more http://tv.yahoo.com/csi-crime-scene-investigation/show/461/news/urn:newsml:tv.eonline.com:20080715:a5ac24bc_efba438f_a2b3_5433d8b5214e

NOOOOOOOOOO!! I don't want Grissom to leave..lol. This is the only CSI I watch. It won't be the same without him. I wonder if they'll bring someone new in or just move one of the others to the top spot.

I heard about this about an hour ago. This saddens me greatly, but he has every right to leave and pursue other things. And I'm looking forward to whatever he decides to do creatively in the future. However, in the meantime I will have to mourn this, lol. It definitely won't be the same without him.

my wife is FAN-attic, and a FAN-adict of CSI las vegas. he loves not only Gil Grissom but he loves william petersen. i don't know now if she loves me har har har. she says that this will be a hard part for all the fans of csi, after the lost of sarah and warrick here is another bad news. but we still need to wait and see. sarah and warrick are coming back so there is a reason for william to change his mind. thanks a lot for the response.

As you can see i love Grissom (William Peterson). Thank god he is coming to Chgo to do a play,i would love to go see him. He's the main reason i watch CSI, and i was so happy Sara left. I'll keep watching for awhile because i like Nick too. I know the Guy that starred in the Matrix is suppose to take his place and their bring in another woman,so we'll see what happens next. At least i still can watch H on CSI Miami-lol.

When Grissom took the time off and the guy (the one that played in scream) took over his position, I almost stopped watching it. There is noone on earth that can take his place. He is a great actor and he is what really makes the show. I think if he leaves the show will probably lose all the high ratings they have. What a bummer!!

that is what they are not thinking of. one of the producers of the show is him himself william petersen. the show will lose their ratings and what is the use if they will not harvest anymore. maybe he is tired with what happened with the show about sarah and warrick but they are coming back soon, i hope he still continue to play as gil. thanks a lot for the response

I really don't know if CSI can handle the loss of William Peterson. Perhaps. He's a big draw to that show, for me. His character is so interesting! I hate to see him go, but look forward to the many ways they can bring him in as a surprise guest star.

welcome to the wqorld of mylot young. he will still be a part of CSI but not in front of the camera, that is what not clear to me. why he wants to leave the Grissom character while he is still one of the producers of the show. if he is tired of being Grissom i still hope he will be at the show every once in a while. thanks a lot for the response

I get what he's doing. It's not so much that he's tired of the show - it's that it can get a bit stifling creatively to play the same character for so long, and he'd like to have more opportunity to do other things, play other roles. He can do that and still produce CSI. Just because I understand it doesn't mean I have to like it though, lol. And thanks for the welcome!

I love CSI! I enjoy learning about the characters and their "stories." Although the science is exceptional and keeps me watching too. It will be interesting to see how Grissom deals with the recent Warrick incident. Is Warrick really going to die? Oh...I never did like that under-sheriff (is that right? - the character that shot Warrick?). Anyway...I cannot imagine how the team is going to respond to one of their own dying (if it happens). I could hardly watch the emotions in the team during the Nick Stoke's incident a few seasons ago. I heard Sara was coming back...but without Grissom, I wonder how they are going to show Sara's passion. Grissom was usually the one to "bring out" the passion in Sara - even before the "romance." He was always the one to get her to really open up. Her character was so abrasive or something (I can't think of the right word). Grissom was able to "soften" her character - making her more likeable. Grissom leaving will be a huge blow to the show...however, I think it is so well written, directed, produced and starred that it will be able to keep my attention (and hopefully other fans too). I would hate to see it go off the air for good! William Peterson is an amazing actor and person. If he feels it is time to go, then it is time for him to go. I admire his "strength" in his decision. It could be fairly easy for him to keep doing what he is doing - seeing the show is so popular and successful...however, he is being honest with himself and his craft - and leaving to "move on." That is admirable and brave! I am extremely happy to hear Peterson will remain involved in the show. That means the quality and philosophy (mission and vision) of the show won't be "as effected" as it could be if he would not remain involved (does that make sense). Anyway, I will look forward to his "guest" appearances...that is for certain!

I really hate to see William Petersen leave the show though I understand that he will be back more as doing a guest appearence. The show just won't be the same with out him to lead the team. I do understand his wanting to do other things after so may years. He will be greatly missed.

people change and so that is the reason why he wants to leave the show, he wants to change. he wants to grow as as actor and not just be a gil grissom all his life. he will be missed i am sure but i hope that we can still see him on CSI or in movies... i think that would be good. thanks a lot for the response

I am very upset about this. I don't think the show is going to be around much longer. sara,Warick and now Grissom. They are replacing them but it won't be the same without them. I watch it religiously even the repeats but when he is gone I don't think I will watch too much. They have been on for almost 10 years maybe its time to close it up. I am so saddened by this.

thats why i said this would be a big blow for the fans like us. sarah then warrick and now the Mr. CSI himself Grissom. i even would like to have a dvd compilation of CSI because my wife loves watching this and we both know that we miss some of the episodes. i know most of his fans wish that he would change his mind but people change and william feels he needs to change too. thanks a lot for the response

What a bummer. I am an avid watcher of the original CSI (las vegas) and Peterson is one of my favorite actors on the show. I hope that he will guest appearance often because he does have quite a following. I don't think CSI will be the same without him, I miss Sarah too.

sarah and warrick will be back already this coming season so i hope that william will change his mind. the cast will soon be complete but not he is the one missing. what would CSI be without him? what would CSI look like without him. there are a lot of question but i think we need to wait and see what will happen. thanks a lot for the response

Among all the CSI shows, CSI Las Vegas is my favorite. One of the reasons is Grissom. I don't know what's gonna happen but it wouldn't be the same CSI I've watched for a couple of years now. Hope he changes his mind.

I love all three CSI shows. I never did before. I watched the one and only first CSI period. Which had Grissom, Warrick, and Sara. I just want to straighten out some confusion here as I'm reading, that these three, Grissom, Warrick, and Sara, are from CSI. Not CSI LV, NY, or Miami. Just CSI. That's definitely a confusion to some. The very first spinoff, CSI, made way for CSI LV, NY, & Miami and if it wasn't for regular CSI getting me hooked (will always be #1 in my book) then the rest would of been history. I will miss all 3, well more like the 2 men most, but that won't deter me from watching CSI until it either just sucks or pulled off the air. I will remain a loyal fan to this one and only, first spinoff of all these shows.
