Why oh why is a training bra so called. What is it training. Surely it is a support equipment. Are a young ladies boobs going to sing, twist or jump. Should we light a fiery hoop and watch them jump. I didn't have training Jockey shorts or jock strap, so why do girls have training bras?

Well, we train them to be and stay perky and not bounce around like a excited puppy with a treat
. So they won't be jiggling wigglily.
.lol And sag to the floor by the time were 34. We have to train them to stay upright and at attention..

Im wondering what actually made you think about something so daft and puzzling!!!
I think training bras are to get young girls used to wearing and doing bras up. I mean you have brought up a daughter, did you not have a father/daughter time about needing a training bra??? lol xx

I often think of daft and puzzling things Cinders. Why, if the moon is made of cheese are the stars not cheese biscuits? etc. LOL. I don't think that my daughter and I did have that discussion. It's the sort of thing that she'd have discussed with her mother along with monthly doodahs and boys. I do give her fashion advice though. I was reading a Susannah and Trinny book today. They don't impress me much, to many floral skirts etc. Good point though about the purpose of a training bra. Thank you.

Has anyone actually confirmed the moon is made of cheese?? How do you know the stars are made of sparkling cheese biscuits??
No i didn't have that discussion with my dad either though we would kinda mention the monthly things especially if he was going shopping and i needed some!! I would tell him i need some towels and he would reply 'towels what do you want towels for?' i would then have to explain sanitary towels. i think he meant bathing towels!! That was our discussion.
Simple things amuse simple minds hee hee x

You just keep me in stitches, P1ke! Your discussions today are very interesting and humorous.
I think they're called training bras, not for the area that they cover, but for the girl herself. To "train" her to wear one by the time she truly NEEDS one. You never wore training pants? But they help ensure that you know to go to the bathroom and not all over yourself! LOL! Seriously, though, your "stuff" isn't visible upon clothed sight, and a girl's is. If she doesn't learn to wear one before she has more than mosquito-bites, then it's harder to get her to wear one when she has apples or melons and NEEDS one! Otherwise she's more liable to attract unwanted attention, whether she likes it or not. Or whether the people around her like it or not!
At any rate, the mental image of teaching the "pups" to jump through hoops is very amusing!

p1key,
That's a tough one....I didn't wear a training bra, I waited until the last possible moment to wear one and by then it was too late! I went right into a B-cup....and boy, was it uncomfortable! I only wear them today, since they're heavy enough that a bra is required!
I think the main difference is that boys wear those 'tighty-whiteys' that hold their junk pretty much in place when they're younger, plus if they sag, who's to know? I think it's rather obvious when women are saggy (and it's not considered that attractive either!).

I happen to have beautiful, full D-cups (my cups overfloweth
), and I'm getting no complaints here...in fact, I'm getting compliments (and I'm not a flashy-type gal!)
I personally LIKE my naturally settling/sagging b00bs--I couldn't imagine getting implants and having them point the way when everything else has gone south!

My thinking is that it is to get the girl used to wearing the bra itself. I could be very wrong on this. When I was 11, I had to wear one. I hated it. It was so uncomfortable that I most of the time did not wear it and guess what...no one noticed. I was 16 and the bra was still like new and I could sadly, still fit into it. Maybe the fact that I refused to wear it had something to do with why I still could? I have 4 girls and I never put them thru that torture. When the reached a point that they noticibly needed a bra, I took them out and bought them one. Lack of the training bra did not seem to hold them back any so I'm thinking my first theory is probably the correct one. Bras are expensive and with todays economy, I'd say that is just another thing to waste your money on.

It is great when it is not needed but I had to wear them because I bloomed early on I would love not to have to worry about letting the "girls" loose and not have to worry about them, bras are needed though and I feel that they aren't a waste of money for those that need them.

My guess is it is so named for training girls. To get them used to the routine of putting it on properly. Not to mention daily. Not for training the "twins". It is also shorter than saying "girls 1st bra".

LOL, I'm sorry this one just made me laugh. Where do you come up with this stuff?? It is, however, a great question. I guess training bras are made in smaller sizes and the cups are softer?? I have no clue it has been eons since I wore one! LOL

If you had free rein in my mind and imagination Skinny you would probably spend quite a bit of time saying "eeeuwwww". My mind spends a lot of its time trying the sort the wheat from the chaff to the point where it just says "bugger it"!! But come closer and I'll tell you a story...........

My dad once told me that when I was little, he said that he needed to get some training bras for me and I said "Why? I wouldn't fall over". LOL Sorry your question reminded me of that.
I think it's to get one used to having a bra but honestly I have no idea.

Oh, dear P1key, you are looking at it the wrong way. Training bras have nothing what so ever to do with what they are supposed to be holding...since usually a girl in a training bra has very little there needing to be held. It's all about training us girls to open those stupid hooks so once we graduate to full fledged underwires we can get out of them safely without poking out eyes out.

If you think about it..which I have never done..its an odd turn of phrase isnt it??!as you say..what are we training?and how are we supposed to `train` them!..it sounds a bit like growing a plant..stick up a few bamboo canes and see what happens!!But the more I give it thought the more I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME THINK OF ANY REASON WHY THEY SHOULD BE CALLED THAT!!ooooo that caps key yet again..sry

Hmm to stop them from jumping around whenever they run. I can imagine that theyd be quite annoying when running the 100 meter dash. They might even pop out, that happened once at my school.
