Catholic church that supports gaye pride?

I am a huge fan of organized religion (although I personally don't subscribe to any, I think you need to start early to get the full effect). My only issue is when religions preach intolerance, which is something you unfortunately see a lot of. Or rather, the religion preaches something that parishioners interpret as intolerance. At any rate, my sister has become very involved with the Catholic Church in Berkeley, CA. Last time I went to visit her, she took me to some masses and events. I thought it was great!! The church she belongs to has made a really strong effort to embrace the people in the community, and that means supporting local gaye pride events!Does anyone else feel that this is positive? Or do you think it's an abomination? Or anywhere in between? Please reply, I don't give out negatives!

Priest sexually abuse little boys all the time. Look at how many cases are being reported. Is it any surprise that the support gay rights?

well I think that is why they elected a pope that is 80 years old...if they didn't there would be a bunch of alter boys having a bad day...

I don't think that's what's going on here, and from what I understand the catholic churches involved in molestation were not supporting gaye rights. But thanks for the input!

I think it's great that there are some churches actually willing to make an effort to be truly accepting. None of this "open door unless you're gay" bologna, but real open door setup. It gives me hope that the number of religious people who try to be tolerant is increasing.

Huh - didn't know mylot filtered that word. I guess it's one of those benefits you get from having either 500+ posts or a specific rating.
