What are your thoughts on allowing your child to become a fashion model? For teen clothing. Do you think that this is a bad idea especially with the choice of clothing for teenagers these days.

Or has it ever crossed your mind to allow you child to go into modeling? Or have you now or ever been involved in modeling (like modeling clothing) if you have or are involved in that line of work what would you say are the most positive things about that also what are the negatives.

I don't see anything wrong with being a fashion model and I would have no worries if my daughter or son became a fashion model.

As long as they have a healthy diet, good attitude, I'm okay with it. thumbup

That's good to know because I think that line of work does pay a lot.But I am not really sure. It seems like it would.

No i dont think its a bad thing as long as they also get shown down to earth behaviour etc all in balance I say.

myLot reputation of 96/100. AnnaB7 (300)   ranked 720 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

Balance is good, I would like to find a way to afford a lot of things that are not possible right now. Maybe I will be able to do that one of these days, also the only reason I was thinking about allowing one or more of my children to do fashion modeling is because that would produce an income for them that could be placed in a trust fund, plus it would also if it pays what I think it does help to meet some of the bills we have currently. Which would be a benifit to my children.

As for down to earth behaviour I would just like things to be less stressful, and I can see how that more income would decrease the stress levels here enoumously.(sp)

I think that the clothes that are out there now a days for young girls and teenagers are really getting more and more risque. I do not have a young girl or teenager right now. I just have a little boy. But I still have opinions on this matter. I think young girls can get thrown into the fashion industry way too young. They need to be children first and not be pushed to grow up too fast. They will grow up soon enough!happy

I am wondering if there is a market for fashionable modest style clothing? because I would not want any of my children modeling some of the things I have been seeing in the stores being sold and marketted to kids.

I was thinking more on the terms of modest fashion styles not styles that are so revealing that someone does not need imagination to know whats underneath. what little bit of clothing being worn.

If someone is involved in modeling they would be able to pick and choose what jobs they wanted. I would not want to encourage anyone to be modeling things that just looked trashy, but especially kids.

No I would not encourage any of my girls to go into modeling as a career choice. The industry is so very completive and no way would I trust anyone in the industry. Too many time a young naive person can and will be taken advantage of. Just look at the life style of the people in the industry beyond going down the runway.

myLot reputation of 96/100. AnnaB7 (300)   ranked 720 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

It is sad that so many people in this type of industry have made poor choices, I wonder though if the ones making these poor choices are the exception rather than the rule, because surely to goodness with so many different catalogs and clothing stores with models shown in these, not all of them could just throwing away their lives.

Perhaps there are some involved in this type of industry that are really just working their jobs and not going out and making a mess of their lives. At least I hope that it is the case that the ones destroying their lives are the exception rather than the rule. But I don't know, in my opinion it would be okay provided that the model was the one who could pick and choose the types of clothing that they wore, or if a minor the parents were the ones who had the final say,. then if something looked trashy the model or parent of the minor could just say no, and go on to the next job.

being a catalog model and a fashion model are 2 different things I'm talking about the fashion models.

I did not know that, I thought it was basically the same thing thanks for letting me know there is a difference maybe that is a bigger factor than anything else.

I'd let my child be a model if she/he wanted but told them not to do drugs and the other stuff that would ruin their lives for nothing. There are actually no advantages, at least not in my eyes so I'd have nothing good to say about this business, however I'd not deny my child's wish and forcefully suppress them from becoming what they want.

It depends on whether your daughter wants to be a model or not
if she wants and has pontenial
encourage her and lead her to the right way

myLot reputation of 96/100. AnnaB7 (300)   ranked 720 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

She does have potential, I know this because she went to a modeling interview once, and the persons doing the interviews said she did, also my sons did. This has been a couple of years ago now. But they did not tell everyone that they had potential,

She has said that she thinks it might be fun for a short time, she would not want to model certain types of clothing though, even though she does have the figure to do that. She is exactly what she should weigh for her height and age, and is very active in martial arts.

I was thinking if there were a market for decent teenage clothing maybe she could do something like that, I would not allow her to go trying to model just anything,

Anyway, if she does decide that she really wants to do that I think it would have to only be if she could pick and choose what types of jobs she took. I would not want her modeling some of the things I see people wearing.

tomzhong (27)   ranked 3,225 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

are you afraid that the clothes are too sexy or any other things?
your daughter can make the rule when signing the contract
so she can choose some clothes you can accpect

myLot reputation of 96/100. AnnaB7 (300)   ranked 720 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

I think that a child or teenager should dress as a child or teenager not as someone who makes their living in the adult entertainment industry, and some of the clothing that I have been seeing in the stores leads me to think that someone has forgotten that kids don't need to be showing all of their bodies to anyone, they need to stay covered up,

I think one of the reasons that you see so much increase in people attacking young children and teens is because of the clothing they wear. Not excusing the ones acting in a manner they should not, but I also don't think a parent should allow their child to wear something that will cause someone to decide they can have their way with that child.

I think it is a good idea that anyone involved in the modeling industry be allowed to pick and choose exactly what types of clothing they would like to model. Just my opinion of course. But I think it is valid because there are many different types of people in the world and not everyone thinks it's okay to be showing as much skin as some of todays fashions in the store are showing. I think it would be a good idea if there were more choices available in the stores, as it is now I have to have my daughters clothes either made or shop at special stores that are a little on the high side unless they have a great sale or something, so i have to watch for sales, more often though I have just had someone to make her clothing because then I know it is somethings she can wear that looks decent.

the fashion show is not something i can appreciate
so i don't know what exatly the guys are watching

now there are more and more little girls going to become models
it is not a good phenomonen
they are still too young to know what is right and what is wrong
they have to obey what their agencies says once they were helpless

my best friends daughter is a model. she just landed a contract in italy. as far as i have seen, it has had no bad effects on her and she is a great person and has good values. she is extremely happy that her hard work has paid off and at last the money is excellent. i guess sometimes some teens loses control and things turn out bad, but values are built at home and if the parent supports them, things will turn out just fine.

myLot reputation of 96/100. AnnaB7 (300)   ranked 720 out of 12,567 in parenting  3 months ago

I agree with you, my mother had a friend years ago who was very nice and she was a model,

I think that it is great that your friends daughter is doing well in her chosen profession. I have heard that the money can be very good if you are able to handle the stresses of modelling, and do well.

Thanks for taking time to mention your friends daughter

thanks for the br. my best advice for your daughter would be to start building a portfolio. its her resume as a model and every thing counts. as for your other discussion about her making extra money, has she considered being a granny nanny. some old people are paying quite good for someone to keep them company and run errands.

I have not heard of granny nannyies I will have to look into that. Thanks for telling me about that.
She has done some acting but right now the only thing she is doing is martial arts she is doing fairly well with that so far. At least she seems to like going to class.
