Microwaving them is quick, but not as healthy. Most of the time I boil mine. I never feel like messing with getting the steamer out, since I have very little counter space, I have to put it away in the cabinet.

katsmeow1213 (1403) | 4 weeks ago | I have that problem as well. So I use the top of my chest freezer and the top of my washer as added counter space. I end up having to shuffle things back and forth as I need to get to the freezer or washer, lol.

| | 2. katsmeow1213 (1403) | 4 weeks ago | I bought myself a microwavable veggie steamer for about $8 at Walmart, and use it almost daily. I recently bought an actual rice steamer that does veggies as well, but have only used it once. I will get more use out of it as soon as I figure out how it works, lol.

| | 4. thetruth4you (401) | 4 weeks ago | It depends on what vegetable I am preparing. Corn on the cob, zucchini, green beans, broccoli I usually steam. I like them a little crisp not soggy. For asparagus I like to broil it or fry it quickly in a skillet with olive oil and spices. I also like to grill veges on a rack in our bbq. I never boil vegetables... and I only nuke my veges if I am in a real pinch for time.

| | 6. Remembering1996 (1503) | 4 weeks ago | I will useally either boil or microwave my vegetables when cooking them. I am not a picky person as long as they come out good and hot that's all I care about. I try to watch the timeing I put them in for when doing it this way for if you over cook them then they can taste rather gross. I love my veggies and will try to cook them with every meal.

| | 7. fluffnflowers (1286) | 4 weeks ago | I microwave steam them. I put a bit of water in the bottom of the bowl and cook them until things are they're still a bit crunchy. I don't like to boil them, and I get the same results, but faster, in the microwave that I do in my steamer.

| | 8. desertdarlene (5523) | 4 weeks ago | I usually microwave my vegetables with a cover over them so that they end up steamed. I have both steamed and microwaved my vegetables and there is virtually no difference. To steam them outside the microwave, I just bought this little steaming thing and placed it in the bottom of a saucepan with some water and covered it. The little thing I bought really wasn't that expensive, only a few dollars. But, microwaving it does the exact same job. I don't believe all that garb about microwaving vegetables taking away the nutrients. If you do it right, it's pretty close to steamed.
