Appliance Scratches

We recently had our downstairs area remodeled. In doing so, the guys moved the new washer and dryer outside to put new flooring down. I just noticed scratches, all the way down to the enamel, on both the washer and dryer. Have only had them about 6 weeks. Don't want to call them back here as I am sure they will charge me. Do you know of anything that will cover these scratches? They are not on the base of either appliance but near the top and not extremely visible. Both appliances are white in color. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

White enamel like the appliances have on them already with a very tiny brush (not sure where you would get this from). Hopefully someone else will know more than I do.

I am sure this will work. Didn't think about the logical end of this problem. And I believe you are exactly right. Thanks for responding.

If you go to the place that you bought the appliances at they often have small tubes of matching touch up paint. If not try a hobby store like Joann's. Or refrigerator was scratched by the delivery people. All we did was comment about it to the driver and a couple of days latter we received a small tube of touch up paint in the mail. It was real easy to use because it had a roller and yu just brushed it over the scratch.

I don't mind buying a small bottle of white enamel if that is what it takes to fix it. It's not that bad, towards the top of both the washer and dryer. Thanks for responding.

You can get appliance paint from places like Home Depot, Walmart, Ace Hardware and Lowes. If you call the company that made the appliances they may be able to send some out to you.

We have an Ace Hardware close to us so I will get over there and buy a bottle. Thanks so much for your response.

I'm sure it depends on the surface of the appliance but they have some great paints that you can find most any store such as Walmart or Lowes. It's actually called 'appliance paint' - we used it on a fridge painted a white one black and it came out terrific.

Good to hear from you again. The appliances are new and do sit out where they can be seen if someone is downstairs in our lower part of the house. Thanks so much for responding.

I had exactly the same problem a few months ago! You can buy spray-on white enamel and spray the areas. This will give the most professional appearance, but do it lightly with several coats, or it will run. Alternatively you can buy white enamel in a little bottle which looks a bit like liquid paper. It doesn't give a perfect finish, but this would probably be okay as you say it's not too visible. You want to get to them quite fast so you don't get any rusting. I'm not in the US so I can't give you brands, but ask at your local hardware store.

Since your appliances are still new try calling your dealer if those scratches are covered by warranty. If not I suggest you ask your hardware store for scratch removers on enamel.

I'll run by the hardware store and see if they have white enamel paint. If not, I'll by Home Depot or call GE. Thanks for responding.

According to HGTV they have special paint I think you can get at Home Depot or Lowes or any home store.....they do it all the time on their shows. I would be very upset!

I wasn't upset and the guys were gone by the time I noticed it. I'll get some white enamel and fix it. The guys did know both the washer and dryer were brand new. I do think they could have been more careful. Thanks for responding.

Hi carolbee, That is awful, you think they'll more careful with other people's properties, the only thing I suggest in paint you spray the car with? thats what my brother done to his and you can't tell at all. Good luck. Tamara
