I'm so behind that I'm living in the past!

I think I ought to explain to all my friends why you're suddenly receiving responses from me for discussions you posted days and days ago.
I'm currently between houses and I haven't got internet access unless I go to the old house. I haven't got time when I'm there to do all the internet things that I'd like to, so rather than miss out on myLot completely I've decided to write replies to all the discussions in my inbox when I'm offline at the new house, then cut and paste them when I get online once a week or so. It means I can still respond to loads of discussions, so I hope you guys don't mind my rehashing old discussions
What would you do if you only had occassional internet access? I must admit that it's driving me barmy! Would you abandon sites like myLot completely and just concentrate on the essentials? Or work out some system where you can make the most of the time available to you?

That's a really smart idea!
And no, I don't mind at all!
It's always nice to revisit
discussions.
Gives me a chance to read over what
everyone has said that I may have missed
and to resolve the discussion.
Best of luck with your new home!

That is what happens to me, often when I gain a new friend they hit my old discussions, then others do too, before you know it it has a new life of its own.

Today when I was checking my unresolved discussions i found responses to which i hadn't replied. It makes me feel very rude when people have taken the time, so I have been responding to my own discussion this morning which is three years old! there's always new material to add though, and it's interesting to see which of my myLot friends are still active.

Does this mean that you are now moving onto the farm. Or have I missed a parting of the ways? I'd send my closest myLot friends PMs or e mails explaining what I am doing and asking them to tell anyone that I might have missed what I am up to. I'd then pack in the Lot until I got myself organised.

We're still going to the farm, but it's basically a shell at the moment as we've ripped the entire interior out. With fuel prices being as they are, we decided it was cheaper to rent a house close by than it was to 'commute' from my existing house (where I'm sat just now, making the most of the net!). So we're now installed just down the road in a lovely rented place, apart from being totally cut off from the world!
We're trying to find out if it's possible to have a landline installed at the farm just now, but this is a country where beaurocracy is designed to frustrate. One day, one day ... !

I wondered where you were. It would drive me out of my mind not to be able to check all my stuff all the time. How long will you be in between?

I'm hoping it's not too long, but there's no point in us having net etc installed in the house we're staying in just now as it's rented. We're trying to work out if we can have a landline put into the new farm at the moment, as it's never had one before. Wish me luck!

I think I'd go to the library! That's what I did when I moved and didn't have access for a couple of weeks.
Thank you so much for thinking of us! Many would just let those old discussions go and not reply. What a considerate friend you are!

I pop into the library from time to time, but it's about half an hour's drive and I can only stay fro a short while until the little one gets bored.
I suppose I'm pretty lucky really still to have net access here. I'm coming back here to tend the garden fairly regularly anyway, so I can make the most of it then.
It's odd how dependant you become on the net, without realising, when you have unlimited access!

Sorry you're not completely settled yet Green Moo. I've also been so busy with school! I actually find that I'm more creative and get more done when I don't have internet access! During the hurricane a few weeks ago, we lost internet access for 5 days. To begin with I was really stressed about it, but then I found that I was enjoying reading more. I felt more relaxed and calm. Of course, as soon as the internet was back on, all that dropped and I'm plugged in again! LOL!

I think we all get a little caught up in real life from time to time and we have less time to respond to everything on Mylot.
What I do when I get really behind is I pretty much ignore responses to my own discussions. I may read them in my inbox, but usually won't respond if I don't have the time. Then I will be very choosy about the discussions I respond to. I will read the first bit of it and if it doesn't sound interesting I keep moving. So that way I'm not completely giving up on Mylot, I'm just being less active than usual.

I think I would work out a system. Need to do that now, as we are still having trouble with the laptop. The thing about posting to an old discussion is that it brings it back up so others may see it as well. It is really a good thing. I will be glad to see you when I can.

Yes, perhaps my friends will benefit from my posting in old discussions. If I bring them to the top of the list again then other myLotters who missed them when they were fresh may be encouraged to post in them too.
I do hope your laptop gets sorted soon GG. I find technology so frustrating when it doesn't do what you want it to.

Hi GreenMoo, it's terrible, isn't it, without internet! I'd feel like I'm missing out on the action going on!
I must say you are pretty creative - in finding a way to answer your posts and mails. I won't know what to do, if I'm without internet access! Well, if it should happen in future, I shall borrow your system and do that!
