Our town is full of yard sales

We are getting up in the morning and going to a few. They are having the Lincoln Highway garage sales. There are sales in 4 states going down the old highway. There is no way that I would go across the state, but I am hitting a few in town. Would you travel miles and miles to go to hundreds of garage sales?

I would not. We just have a few here in our neighborhood and they are mostly get rid of the baby stuff sales or we are moving sales. We were in Prince Edward Island and they had one of the highway garage sales. Every house on the highway had a table in front selling stuff. I guess all in all, it amounted to trading. We never stopped because we have a small house, and our car would not be big enough to put the stuff in. Besides we can get what we want at home, and I did not want any new or old stuff right then.

If you'd asked that five years ago, I would've said yes. Now, I'm not so sure. Most yard sales seem to have just junk and old clothes, nothing I need or want. I had to look for a coffee table for a year before I found one at a yard sale last week! They either have junk or they're priced so high I can't afford anything.

We find some things, not like we used to. I am always trying to find new things that will help my son learn or toys that will entertain him. I also find some nice clothes for both boys.

I like going to garage sales, but I just don't see myself going miles and miles just to go to one. I will go to the ones in my area and that's about the extent of it.

If I could afford to do so yes I would but with gas prices the way they are I am lucky to hit those in my own neighborhood lol. I think it would be a lot of fun.

I think if nothing else was interfering with it, like lack of money I would. I have heard of this sale before. I think it would be fun to have the cash to do it, taking off work. I do not have anyone to be responsible for, other than hubby, so it would be a fun expedition for us. If I were an E Bay seller, I certainly would think it might be worth my while.

There's no way I'd travel really far like that for yard sales. There's enough around here on any given weekend to probably find what I'm looking for. The furthest I'd probably go would be around 20 miles, and there'd have to be more than one to check out to make it worthwhile. I'm lucky, our papers are loaded with them throughout the summer. My favorite one is one that is held in this giant barn, and there's about 20 families that have their goods there all at one time!

No, only because I don't want to waste gas to get to a yard sale to find out, they don't have anything that I like. I am loving the fact that a main road is detouring through our neighborhood until the end of the month, so a lot of people are having yard sales. My kids got a few little things here and there, and I got a bookshelf, belts, and a bunch of pants for my youngest for school.

I used to like going to boot fairs and garage sales in the past. There I got lots of bargains. Then I saw a course offered on clutter clearing in 2004 I think it was and went to that. I realized that I had too much clutter so it wasn't a good idea of buy anymore of it. I do travel long distances to go out of a wonderful day. Like I used to go on day trips to France, leaving home at 5am. Now I do go on day outings to coastal resorts that are far away. My sister and her husband love a jumble sale, boot fair or a garage sale. It there is a jumble sale with lovely things to buy it would be the highlight of her week, getting clothes for herself and toys for her children.

We have hardly even been to any yard sales, as they are not plentiful in the areas we have lived, but we had a great time going to a few that I remember and got some wonderful deals. One of my most treasured possessions used to be a 23 volume set of books that were supposed to be like a 4-year college course in a box. It was called Encyclopedia of Literature or something like that and I read every single page before heading out to college and really I think those books helped a lot as preparation, but after graduating I still liked to take those volumes down once in a while and do a little reading. The contents were excerpts from the most respected literature from all over the world. Now it is possible to find some of that stuff online, but back then there was no internet yet.
