As I was sitting here mylotting, some fantastic smells started to come from my kitchen. My hubby got down the waffle maker and made homeade waffles. Yummy been a LOOONNNG time since we had those. Bacon frying, waffles cooking, you can imagine the aroma. Have you made waffles recently? What is in the batter? We often cheat and eat the toaster variety.

Sounds like a scene out of one of the Leave It To Beaver episodes LOL I haven't had a waffle...homemade or otherwise...in ages but you sure make me hungry for some. What a sweet husband to make you breakfast.

I've actually never owned a waffle iron so I never make them but I do love them...one of these days I might have to break down and get one.
I used to get the frozen/toaster ones too but they're nothing like freshly made waffles. I love them with syrup or berries on top.

I dislike the toaster waffles because I don't think of them as 'real' waffles for one reason or another. I like to make my own, but as I use a batter mix I suppose that doesn't really qualify. With some practice or experience, I could probably make better waffles from scratch, but I haven't tried that yet. Perhaps it is an item to add to my to do list.

We never buy the toaster kinds of waffles. i ahve heard that some are good, we just never do. I have never personally made the Waffles around here. hat is something That my HUSBAND does to spoil me and who am I too stop him!???
He does not use Vanilla in his home made batter recipe either.. he uses Orange extract!!! It is out of this world. We love it! I whole heartedly recommend that you try it. If you like Orange you will never go back.
I have also been known to snaek orange extractin my Cheesecake. It tasts like Dreamscicle need I say more!!! LOL @suspenseful (40192)

I have not made waffles for a long time. I am trying to watch my weight. But I love them with butter and maple syrup. I have not made the toaster kind, but when we made too many, I would freeze the left overs, and then pop them in the toaster. I use rolled oats, white and whole wheat flour, a little sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, milk, and vinegar. I love buckwheat waffles so maybe when I have enough extra money, I will go to the bulkstore and get some. We usually have them for brunch. And if there is bacon in the house, we will have bacon with them as well.

We (I should say my husband) always make our waffles from scratch. He doesn't like the kinds that you buy at the store. Ususally we make a double batch so that there are a lot of leftovers to freeze and then we throw them into the toaster. I like them with blueberries, but since I'm the only one in the family who does, I don't get them like that very often.
